Randy, I seriously doubt you will ever see Legends cars (Aussie racing cars) on a better track than Mt Panorama at Bathurst this weekend. I caught a bit of them while channel surfing.
Heres a low quality teaser:

What a finish that race was. Grant Denyer getting pipped in the last corner, wow.

Was that Denyers first race meeting in an Aussie race car? I heard the commentator said Yamaha 1300cc motor (539). Apologies if I`m behind the times...are they water cooled now? According to the Aussie site they are still 1200cc. Also Grant is gunna race one of Tony Quin`s at Indy? (When`s that on?)

I still say they`re more exciting to watch than the V8`s!

Here`s another taste of Bathurst from 2007.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K-MsjIk8KY0

That's an incredible race track!  The racing was good too.

I got an email from Peter Carr who went into the weekend leading the points only to DNF in the final on Saturday. You can hear them mention him as he is still at the S/F line.

He said he was struggling with a slipping clutch and then the clutch basket broke ending the race, the broken basket was probably the reason for the clutch slip. As a result of the points structure and the fact Saturday's main event was double points, he is now 11 points out of the lead and that is an insurmountable number to make up with only one weekend remaining.

When I was at the Clipsal weekend and after he explained the points structure, the decision to change out the good race engine that could fail resulting in a DNF compared to running the tired engine and completing the race with a decent finish is the only means to obtain a championship in the series.

So, we will have to see how 2015 works out for Peter.

Think he should of had a spare basket with him...

Think he should of had a spare basket with him...
It is not so much not having the parts available, it is the damage that occurs when they explode...

It usually wipes out the oil pump, every component of the clutch, the clutch cover, sometimes the shift detent pin breaks out of the case and worst case scenario...the crankshaft drive teeth are damaged.

Peter broke coming to the white flag of the final race of the weekend. I have not heard back if they went looking for clutch issues prior to the basket breaking.

Do the billet baskets help?

The don't break, but the aluminum is too soft and the cushion springs wear through the backside into the center clutch boss hub and then there is no clutch.

As they wear the put a ton of aluminum through the engine and create a lot of wear...

So, billet baskets are more for drag racing.
