Pulled the swingarm, shock, rear wheel, c/s sprocket.

Cleaned all the gunge out of the c/s cover and around the clutch pushrod.
Replaced the c/s sprocket with a new 18T, wheel sprocket with a new 43T and chain with a new EK super duper Xring.

Serviced the Penske and re-nitrogen gassed it. Cleaned and re greased bearings in swingarm mount and the suspension link.
New pads in the rear caliper.
Put a brass sleeve in the side stand pivot so it no longer rattles and flops around.

All back together Sunday afternoon and went for a 100K ride just because i could.

Good onya Harv. I bet her cleverly disguised Grape juice stealth has put an extra shine on ya gold tooth!

Mate I did same, (sorta), cause it was fathers Day. Weird but amazing strength in the XS swingarm...esp with new bearings and a not so rattly new uni joint!  She`s been sleeping since Jindabyne, but on Sunday, joined me again under the sheets! (Still a wild ride I can report!)   Mate ya gunna have to send me your work schedule!

Doug, work schedule is all over the place at the moment, so 20th is looking like its doable right now.

We are waiting for Rio-Tinto to get their shit together over in WA - no signed contract for the work that I was supposed to be there for as yet.

So right now I'm Mon-Fri here in Brisbane.

Good for you Harvy,  I'm sure you will be happy with your work. Glad to hear you got to enjoy a few miles on the smoother suspension..

Makes a world of difference Eric......squeaks and rattles that you don't realise have developed over a couple of years are now gone. Its been around 75000 Kms since I fitted the the FZ1 rear end and this is the first time I've pulled it all off and checked it all over. Was all in pretty good condition still and re-greasing was all that was needed. The Penske as around 50000 on it and re-gas and a good clean up has made it new again.
The biggest rattle was the side stand, putting the sleeve into it has made a marked difference.
Chain had not stretched very much but it did have a fair bit more sideways flex than a new one has. C/S sprocket was getting some decent hooking on the teeth tho the wheel sprocket was still reasonable. I was getting a bit of a clunk at low speeds that seemed to have length of chain frequency so I thought replace the whole lot and look forward to another 75k KMs of trouble free FJ joy.

Good to hear from you mate - hope all is going well for you.
I had the company of another Eric from over your way a couple of weeks ago - Electrical linesman by the name of Eric Thigpen who was over here learning how we do our helicopter patrols. Really good bloke - he lives just north of you and has friends in your street - SMALL WORLD eh!

Cheers

Yea doing well here Harvy,  Frank and I got together a few weeks ago for a ride up to the mountains.  The 91 ran perfect and it was a blast to head up the mountain riding behind Frank on his new KTM. I know its old but its still makes me grin every time I ride it. I think I will do the same to mine this winter, and get all the suspension cleaned up and working like new again...
