Checked coils

So i checked coils resistance and got 4.0 and 3.8 ohm and secondary 24000. This is a fair way out of spec but bike seems to run and start fine. Should i change them out for new ones? And if so what brand?

I have Dynatek coils on mine 3ohm,35000.I dont know if there is much difference over stock as I never ran the stock to compare. A pair will set u back about $300. I'd contact an expert...like RPM. If it aint broke ,dont fix it But ask an expert first!                                                                                          Good luck! Charley.

Ill leave it for now and keep an eye on it. So dyna coils will work ok with stock cdi?

I've got almost 1000 mi. with no problems with the coils and stock cdi. I believe all coils are pretty much the same just different ohms and volts. Just make sure they are close  ohms and same or higher volts(hotter spark). If you plan on getting new ones. I do agree if its running fine,ride it. Thats alot of money you could use for other upgrades like suspension, exhaust, tires or touring gear. I didnt actually buy these coils new, they were on an allmost complete, and completely dissasembled 84 drag/street bike I bought 2years ago for $200.                                                                                                                                   Not an expert, allways learning, Charley

Cheers! I do wonder though if it is running this good now what it would be like with new coils and a proper carb sync, as i just done a bench sync.

There are cheaper replacement coils out there, Emgo comes to mind probably about $50 each X2. A proper carb sync is worth doing. I ponder alot about different improvements and mods I'd like to do, I do have a Dynatek 2000 ignition that I'd like to install but don't have a manual or instructions for it, so it'll have to wait...maybe ugh....this winter....sure do hate winter!!! Charley.
