I gotta admit that we cheered when the new king finally hit the ground hard after getting away with outright murder for all this time.  9 consecutive wins.  Really?  How's that good for the sport?

Don't get me wrong he is a spectacular rider but when someone waltzes in and trounces on records set by legends like Mike Hailwood, Phil Read and Giacomo Agostini it hurts a little.  Also I do not like his tactics on track. The re passing of Pedrosa a round or two ago was down right dangerous and very disrespectful to Dani.  

If he lands on his noggin a few more times perhaps he will realize what he risks every time he lifts the rear while leaning or pushes to the point of endangering the other riders.....

I will probably warm up to Marquez in 4-6 years. But right now I would really like to see Rossi, Lorenzo or Pedrosa beat the snot out of that kid at least once.....

Yep !  Love him or loath him, he's the 'real deal'. 

No, it doesn't always make for interesting race watching, but we are
witnessing a phenomenon not seen since .....maybe ever.
As Axiom-r has shown, he is re-writing the record books and IS just
the spark that motorcycle racing needs to replace the aging (at 35?) V.Rossi

It will be very interesting to watch in amazement what he's able to achieve.

I was at Mugello, Italy and it was amazing to watch this guy:

1) With five minutes left in qualifying, when he was sitting 3 or 4th, he left the pits and captured the pole.
2) Lorenzo led pretty much the whole race, but last three laps they passed each numerous times;  Marquez would not be denied made one final pass and our Yamaha simply could not pass again.

One cool, highly competitive customer.  Up there with Wayne Gretzky, Michael Jordon, and other studs of sport.

I think the Honda might a slightly better bike as well.

 I have been out of the loop for years as far as motor sports on a good tv, I do miss it though. Was wondering about this new top gun Marquez, his stats are incredible and sounds like a natural with the gift of balance but I would like to know if he would run/try The Isle of Man TT. Has he? If not would his circle even let him? Not sure of the sizes of bikes he races but I am sure they can find him one. How does this man view the TT . I am curious

I don't think you'll see Marquez at IOM TT anytime soon.  I'd bet his sponsors wouldn't let him there on a bike.  Those curbs are too dangerous.  Hell, the GP guys didn't like Laguna Seca because it was too dangerous!

The TT is a completely different sport and competitors from real road racing and track type road racing are rarely competitive in each others disciplins. I have 2 friends who have raced at the TT, one of which has been doing it for the past few years and both agree that the only similarity is the bike itself...

Both take a very specialized skill set and there is respect on both sides.

Finally Marquez is not first.... not even on the podium... (4th).  He is a living legend for sure but we celebrated a little to see Pedrosa on the top step! 

He won 10 consecutive races.  Equivalent to Agostini...

Spain definitely produces the best riders in the world now.  It is sad to say that there will be no American riders now that Collin Edwards is officially not to ride at Silverstone or for the rest of 2014.
