Header bolt vs. stud and nut???

Has anyone replaced the exhast header studs with actual bolts? If so, did they ever come loose or seize in the block? I'm just not a fan of studs and bolts on headers, header bolts look so much cleaner.

I couldn't think off-hand why bolts wouldn't work. However, after having exhausts on and off multiple times, I'm thinking that using bolts would be a PITA when it comes to lining things up and threading them in. Might introduce the possibilities of cross threading, or pulling out the internal threads in the head.

Studs allow you something to hang the exhaust on as you align things and draw it down.

I'm sure others here will have their dos centavos to add.

Bolts in 'n out of the head repeatedly would probably wear out the aluminum threads.  JMHO.

That's exactly why there are studs there.  Plus exhaust hardware lives in a pretty nasty environment that causes a lot of issues when it's time to remove it.  I suggest choosing function over form on this one
