Hey Pat,
have you (or anyone else) ridden Hwy 4 , The Alpine St Hwy recently, it goes from Angels Camp and meets up with Hwy 89, Monitor Pass?
Also, who's ridden Pikes Peak, Colorado, lately?
Then there's the Old Priest Grade and the 120 between Moccasin and Big Oak Flat, not to mention the "Little Dragon" on Hwy 49 just down the road from them near Coulterville.
So many good roads there, it's hard to pick, guess getting there a few days early would be the go.

Klavdy,

I have both driven, and ridden up recently..........................It is paved all the way to the top. (The parking lot at the top is still dirt though, although they may make some changes after this year's Hillclimb finish accident)
The road itself is excellent...................The only thing you'd have to contend with is the weather. It can snow/hail/rain at anytime, even in mid-summer...........A ride up earlier in the day is better, as weather usually moves in during the afternoon.

OK, I have a stupid(?) question:  Where is there fuel available in the area.  My google search didn't look too promising.  Gardnerville is 30+ miles away.  Am I going to need to bring a drum of fuel?

Hey guys , there is a gas station at Topaz Lake about 4or5 miles north of the KOA.  Also a mini-mart , small hotel and Casino just as you cross into Nevada. They used to have a pretty good buffet back in the day. I know people who live in wellington Nevada and we would go there for a night out.

moparman70

got my room booked ---  My reservation came back with this notice --- don't know if it will be in place during our rally but I would expect so as summer is dry.

Early Check-In is NOT allowed!
Please note that due to recent US Forest Service and BLM restrictions, no campfires or charcoal BBQs. Propane BBQs are allowed but must be 15 feet from any brush. Charcoal BBQs are allowed in the 100 building. Community Campfire in the RV Pavillion is allowed with PRIOR permission from management.

There are plenty available still ----so book away  ----------- here is what is still open.   PS ---the place is closed January February and you have to leave a message but the gentlemen will get back to you within a few days.
