Harley might have designed the V Rod from this bike but at least they did not paint V Rods this ugly.  Dave

ummm... the V-rod was introduced in 2001.  The Hyosung GV650 was introduced in 2008.

yea this thing fell out of the ugly tree and hit all the branches on the way down.

I hope everybody knows that in motorcycle terms,

P.S. Life is too short, and health is too valuable, to ride on cheap parade-duty tires.

A wealthy friend of mine bought a V Rod when they first came out. I had done a little research on the bike at that time because Harley worked with Porsche to develop a new V twin engine, first water cooled Harley, different cylinder configuration etc. What I found interesting is that, in typical Porsche fashion, not only did they want to develop a high performance engine they wanted to be sure that this M/C could stand up to all that Harley owners could throw at it. One aspect of performance that Porsche spent much time wrestling with was the ability of the engine to withstand a Parade setting. Meaning it had to be able to idle for extended periods of time without overheating. So here you have the company that developed the first engine to develop 100 bhp per litre working on an engine that had to idle for an hour without melting down. Another Harley oxymoron: high performance idling.

To Harley's credit though, I don't remember reading anything about Hyosung designs being stolen by Harley or Porsche. I think it may have been the other way around. Just a thought.

I remember when the V-rod came out in 2001 and all the motorcycle magazines raved about the incredible horsepower and torque. I also remember thinking to myself "hmm, pretty much the same as my 15 year old FJ!" I had my '86 at the time. Looking back I really should have been more impressed that HD had made it all the way to just 15 years behind the times...

Ya but being fi it's easier to get way more power out of it. My friend has one. And when he got it I rode it. I wasn't impressed.
Then he had Vmods put an intake exhaust and power commander. Then dyno tune it. Whole new beast. Break the tire loose easy in 2nd with my 280lbs sittin on it.
