Clutch master w pooched screw.

As I'm working my way through my new to me 91 I'm finding irritating bits. Former owner mangled one of the screws on the cover of the master clutch cover.  Yesterday I tried for an hour to get it to release but no luck. Tried bigger Phillips/light Dremel to get a flat head working/ drill the center and use a screw extractor/ nada.
The other cover screw while not having a messed up head would not release either so now I'm expecting they are seized.

My SS lines and blue dots are arriving this week so...Long story short...seems like time for some new masters.

R1/vfr/other?
Is there a best choice for both clutch/brake lever and master replacement ?

What about the Chinese ebay masters? ( sounds a bit awkward when it's written )

Rebuilt my slave clutch Friday and went trough the same problem, ended up drilling the screw heads off.

On the master you might take a look at the GL 1800 master.  Avationfred told me about them a while back.  The reason I mention them is the banjo bolt is in the same position as the FJ. Makes it easy to hook up using your existing brake lines.

This is an example. Some come with adjustable levers and there is an optional switch box that can be installed on top of the master if you wanted more switch's?  I have never had one but it is on my list when it comes time to change out.

thanks for the comments. the GL wouldn't be a radial master would it? or in reality does a radial make that much of a difference?

So, the GL is a stock swap. but its not radial. lots of people are all about the radial (more force for less lever travel correct?) .

can anyone chime in to say yay or nay to that?

GL's are readily available for sure...

:morning2:  Radials are great , but IMO, that m/c would be a good and easy upgrade for you.

Just spoke w a local salvage shop and he has a set of TL1000 M/Cs there. both hydraulic/not sure if they are radial or not though. I'll pop over and see him later today unless someone here says to stay away from them...

happy days!
took my bike to Atlantic Motoplex here in my area today (dieppe, nb, canada). helpful and friendly service tech came outside w a hammer and an impact screw driver. within minutes he'd sorted out my messed up and seized MC screws for me free of charge.
now i don't HAVE to buy new MCs and can get on w mounting SS lines and Blue Dots :-)

and hunting for gl1800 rear shocks...
and saving for new springs and valves...

sigh ;-)
