You are going to have to see which one broke since the early bikes had an upper & lower pull cable.

The upper cables are the only ones available from Yamaha anymore. I have seen mention that Motion-Pro does the other cables but I have no experience with them.

Changing out a throttle cable is a fairly easy job. All it takes is removal of the fuel tank and opening up the right hand starter switch housing. If you have a Haynes manual the procedure is pretty straight forward. Page 3.11

With all due respect for your 4km of pushing, that seems more like a "good ride with an inconvenient ending."  I read that subject line and expected much worse!

Whichever cable broke, replace them both...assuming they are both of the same age.

Sorry to disappoint Ron....lol...could have been worse I guess as I work 40 kms away..I will remove the starter switch and confirm which one Randy...I don't have a manual so first I find out which one and yes I believe i'll swap out both thanks guys hopefully I can get it done for Ontario FJ Clinic if not Johnnie i'll be 1st one there with parts and it on my truck..lol

Okay, just so you know, there is a total of four cables on your bike with the connector box in the middle.

The connector slide could have pulled through to if you don't find a cable broken.

Well I've removed and confirmed what I pretty much knew , one of the cables did snap and the other is in bad shape so it looks like I will be changing both..
