just saw this on a local forum.

[/quoteHi, these are the tyres I'm after for my 84 FJ11. Down here in Oz they cost $250 more than the price on the link you posted, import duties, bla bla bla, sux. :cray:

Arnie

Frogger,

There are (currently*) no import duties, and as long as the total landed cost (inc freight) is less than A$1000, not even any GST.
The biggest impediment is the cost of freight whether by courier (UPS, FedEx, Post, or normal commercial freight) for a small shipment like this.
Check their website as they may have some arrangement with an international freight operation.

Arnie

* We'll just have to see what this gov't brings in, but none at the moment.

Thanks for that Arnie, rang around all my local dealers, seems that they all use Pro Accessories in QLD for Avon. When I tried to buy the tyres from the company in the link it said they don't ship to Oz. Any ideas? Thanks, Jason.

Try  jakewilson.com
I have bought 2 sets of tyres off them and even with freight there is a big saving. The last set of Azzaros I ordered on Sun and they arrived on Fri

It is my belief that the Aussie tyre (tire) importers and distributors, who are frequently branches of the manufacturers, pressure the US discount retailers to NOT sell or ship to Au.
This restraint of trade is illegal in Australia and in the US, but being able to prove it is very difficult.
I have previously purchased bike tires in the US and brought them back as checked luggage.  This was when you could have 2 checked bags AU > US >AU.
I have also purchased tires from Motosport.com in US (Klavdy recommended) and had them shipped here for only $30 extra, but for quite a while now when they read your IP as Australia, they either don't have ANY stock, or only have superseded stock they want to clear (Q2's for A$229).
Jake Wilson is the only US tire seller I know of currently able/willing to sell and ship to Au.

Hey Arnie, got the tyres from jakewilson, good saving. After engine parts etc for my 84 FJ11, do you know of any suppliers? Thanks for your feedback.

Bones

There's Randy of course, or you can try this bloke in Australia. He's got a fair selection of parts there.

Too young to be old but old enough to know better.

Arnie

+1 for what Bones said.

Randy   rpmracingca.com

or Vic Drummond   http://victordrummond.net   in Perth

I've done business with both and they are both good to deal with.
