UNI Pods question

Is there any trick to getting these to stay on? 
I've oiled the filters and are trying to get them to stay on.  Put then on stare to tighten them mad they keep popping off. I've cleaned carb flange and inside of boots but they still keep squeezing off. They are tight to get in by the two pieces of frame but they do go on.
Should I scuff the flange of carb for better grip?  There does seem to be a film on the filter flange. That UNI oil is slick.

Take some type of carb cleaner and wash that film off the inside of the pods. I did that just before I installed mine and they stay on just fine. I think that the film is some type of release agent used in making the filters. Once they are clean you should have no problem keeping them on the carbs.. HTH

I just clean the inside boot and carb body to a dry state and install.  I don't screw them down to hard either, just nice and firm.  Did you spray the filter oil to the inside of the filters ?  Think I read something about not doing that.

Yes that oil is a little different.  I was going to use up the remaining K&N oil that I had but while down the road at Cycle Gear I seen a small can of it so I bought some. IMO just buy the UniPod oil it is different.  I don't know how to describe it other than "stickier", not as runny.  A small can of it will last for a very long time.  RPM sells the oil also.

I love those UniPods.... I can't tell you how much they have benefited my project.  Lots of mods and the extra room is being utilised.  I also pulled the carbs once since installing them and much easier to do now.  For convenience the Pods and spin on oil filter are a very nice addition.

The oils are definitely different. K&N oil is for paper elements and Unifilter oil is for the foam Uni filter.
About as different as fork oil and gear oil.

I agree with George's method of cleaning the mating joints of the pods and intake boots, then not over tightening to the point of where you deform the two.

I use K&N cleaner on the filter boot and carb to clean any oil off. It works great.

I did spray the inside as well. The directions said to.

I will use some carb cleaner to clean boots and carb bodies.  Was pressed for time earlier and my hands had that sticky oil on them so im sure ill have better luck next time.

What you describe is simply a result of over tightening. Clean the carb mounting surface, and only screw the clamps tight enough to keep them on, no tighter.

Mine kept popping off. I sprayed hair spray on the rubber. Let it get tacky then put them on. They never fell off again.

Little more cleaning, little hair spray for stickiness, not too tight and worked perfectly.
