Hi,

Not 100% sure if this is in the right category, but I'm looking at "new" front fairing frames for my '86. Specifically one of these:

I found a few on eBay, but they were all for different years. Does anyone know if and/or what years those frames will be interchangeable?

Thanks!

Mark the 86 & 87 are the two interchangeable years for your 86.

Fantastic, exactly what I needed to know. I saw an '89 on eBay for $10 and thought I was gonna get lucky...oh well.

Thanks a ton!

Mark,

Give a man a fish, and he eats for a day.  Teach a man to fish, and he leans back in the boat drinking beer the rest of his life (or something like that).

Click on this link,
http://www.2wheelpros.com/oem-parts/1986-yamaha-fj1200sc.html
then click on the COWLING drawing.
Find the frame in that drawing (Index #51).
Scroll down to find that Index #51 in the listing. (not available, darn).
Click on the Part Name on that Index #51 to see the part and availability, then:
Scroll down, to find every Yamaha vehicle which uses the same part.  In this case, as Randy says, this part is used on 1986 and 1987 bikes only.
This same process works for all Yamaha parts.  Search the Internet by
Yamaha "thepartnumber"
WITH the quotes.  Happy hunting . . .

Cheers,

P.S. Life is too short, and health is too valuable, to ride on cheap parade-duty tires.
