Another FJ shirt...

So, I have no intentions of starting any competition here, but I had been meaning to do this for a long time. I got a T-shirt last christmas. It was an old vintage FJ1100 shirt. My uncle found it on Craigslist. It was a little too small, but not in terrible condition, considering how old it was.

But the graphic was cracking, and the font used wasn't awesome, and the colors were kind of gray and dull... And it was kind of too small, heh. So I always wanted to take a picture of it, do some digital restoration, and then make some modern versions.

Well, I hadn't gotten around to it since over a year ago, but seeing these shirts and knowing the rally was coming up, I went ahead and did some work the last two nights. The bulk of the work is done, I just need to do some details...

What do you think?

http://www.zazzle.com/fj1100_fj1200_vintage_retro_shirt_design_plain-235118329847730574

You can buy a plain one if you like, but I was thinking about putting some stuff on the back for the 30th anniversary. Maybe the rally locations/dates, RPM's logo, a tuning fork, etc? Open to suggestions. Maybe the forum "logo" on the top left.

I just thought it was a pretty freaking cool design and deserved to be shared with the community. These are a lot more expensive than the other option, mind you, and it's not money that's being fed into someone's friend, which I prefer just like anyone else. If nothing else, these can be the central FJ rally shirts, and everyone else can be jealous.

I'm not a huge fan of Zazzle in particular, so if anyone has any advice for getting this done elsewhere, that's also an option. (Maybe I could work with the screenprinting guy in CA on having this done?)

I thought about making a messenger bag with the design, which would be *super* call (I carry a messenger bag with me everywhere), but it would be $105-$126, so that's a flop I think. I mention it because, if anyone is genuinely interested in that, I can still do up the design and make it a product you can buy on the site. I might make some mugs, actually, though...

(And, of course, a plain one with nothing else is worthwhile, I think. Even if no one else wants one, I really am making this for myself more than anyone else.  :mail1: )

(Randy, if you're ok with your logo being used, let me know and send me an image or a link to an image I can use.)

Not everyone understands what a completely rational process this maintenance of a motorcycle is. They think it's some kind of a knack or some kind of affinity for machines in operation. They are right, but the knack is almost purely a process of reason.

As a suggestion, separate the pic from the print so the 1200 can be read. It will look cleaner that way.
can you make just an 1100 shirt?

fintip

You mean you don't like having the picture layered over the words? I felt like that made it look a lot more coherent, but I can certainly adjust that. I am not sure I will unless other people echo that sentiment, though. The original shirt also had the rider's head over the numbers, and I don't feel like it makes it unreadable in any way.

And I can definitely make an FJ1100 only version. The original was FJ1100 of course, but since I have a 1200, I wanted my bike to be represented too! I'll go make one up for you now, though, super easy adjustments.

I did two FJ1100 only designs.

The first (off-center text):

The second (centered text):

BY THE WAY:

Zazzle almost always has promotions going on that reduce prices significantly. Currently they have a banner at the top mentioning 20% off for the promo code "nofoolingyou". That reduces the price down to just over $20 (though you will have to add shipping, of course).

I like the off centered design.  Me want.  So I just buy off of Zazzle?  Thanx for the 1100 only shirt.

For continuity's sake... All images are clickable and lead you to where you can buy them!

Alright, guys, I think this is my finished product. I guess there are several shirt options out there (3?)

http://www.zazzle.com/fjowners_vintage_30th_anniversary_rally_t_shirts-235742014924471478

If I am missing a location of another rally or have something wrong or misspelled, someone let me know!

Here's the FJ1100 only shirt:

And here's a poster with just the front design:

Boxer briefs:

A Kindle Fire case:

Bumper Sticker:

Coffee Mug:

Super cool (Expensive) watch:

It is possible to make other products, like laptop covers. You can see a full selection at cafepress and zazzle (and presumably other sites. If you'd like me to create a product, just let me know, and I'll do my best to make it.

(At the moment I can only make products with a black background, which limits the options somewhat. I'd have to do more tinkering to make it work on a white background, and the image was originally on a black background anyways adding to the difficulty.)

Also, the bumper sticker had a slight modification:

Hold off on orders everyone, more updates to come...

Will be likely adding RPM's logo (pending approval), and will be...

correcting AK to AR (derp)
Listing the rallies in order of date of occurrence
(possibly) putting the dates in a column to the side of the locations.

Also still open to other suggestions.

Every image I post is clickable and brings you to a page where it can be purchased, but again! Do not purchase yet! It is not the final version! I'll delete the current one soon.

In the meantime, does anyone want to help by listing the dates of the rallies? Hunting them down is a little difficult, the forum doesn't always play nicely with Google searches.

Trying to get all the proper info to finish up my rally shirt...

March 8-10 Australia Rally
May 15-18 Boone ECSR
May 29-31 Willits WCR
July 17-20 Dogpatch Central Rally
July 25-27 Lake Placid, NY (?) NESR
Sep 19-21 Tellico ECFR

Does this look right?

Also did a little more editing, reddened the reds just a tad more...

Here's my idea currently:

Not to drive you guys crazy, but I'm being perfectionistic because every time I have to make this shirt from scratch (glitch on the site doesn't let me edit already made designs), but I got some suggestions via email and private message that inspired me to tweak some things.

Love it? Hate it? I know I can't satisfy everyone, but I really like the changes that lead me to this one:

(Click on it for a larger image to view!)

Edit: polished up the FJ logo so it would be sharp instead of 'fuzzy' to match the other letters a little better...
