Hello. It is almost spring in Finland. Very early spring :good2:. So my FJ got new Avon Azaro-ST in rear. And clean, greased needle bearings in rear suspension. Besides, spin on oil filter adapter is coming from RPM. I'm quite happy :yahoo:.

Frost heave signs are in full bloom here. The roads are so bad, Makes a luxury car feel like a covered wagon. Winter storm warnings are up- 35- 50 knot winds.  :bad:

I thought all you guys in Main have studded tires to extend your riding season...

I may have to drive my bike starting real soon cause my car is getting totaled driving around the island. Boulders are working them selves up thru the tar, pot holes so big a small dog can't jump out. Every culvert has sunken a foot down :greeting:. The DPW is thinking of calling it a state of emergency.

Two more mods: fuel cap and ignition timing. And those mods are excellent  :yahoo:. But now I have to do something to clutch, because it's slipping a bit. New spring and one more wide plate, perhaps  :good2:.

New spring alone is unlikely to fix it. The general consensus here is to double up the clutch springs, put a new one on top of the existing one, and retain the old plates.

While that may be the general consensus..... I haven't found it to be the case.  Replacing the thin plate with a full width one, and putting a new clutch spring in, fixed mine fine.
And, if it is still slipping (doubtful) you still have the old clutch spring you can put in.
Either way, you still have to buy a new clutch spring.
NOTE: Buy the FJR clutch spring -- Its the same, but only 1/2 the price.

Also depends on how old it is.

Did it only start slipping after you installed oil filter adaptor? Changing the spring and type of oil fixed one of my clutches. My other FJ had developed a slight clutch slip also but problem solved with the change of oil type from a 10/50 to a 10/40 in the same oil brand. The temperatures in your environment are very different to here in Australia but I am curious to know if it only started after the oil change.

Prefer Arnie`s Solution, rather than going with double springs per suggestion by Noel the stirrer as being the general Consensus.

Same Motox 20-50 oil as allways. But perhaps I try 10-40, thanks for hint. And if it makes no difference, then new spring by you and Arnie's way  :good2:.
