I know some of you met my kid at Rock Store, so I'd thought you'd be interested in this.

The kid calls me from the freeway today.... The FJ600 gave up a rod on his way home, blew a nice chunk out the front of the engine. Too bad, this bike is in pretty reasonable shape. I think I can part it out and make my $ back. The first bike I've owned that actually gave up the ghost. I think maybe the oil pump failed being everything else seemed to be in pretty good shape and it ran like new. I was actually kind of sad she died, I had a blast on this bike and she drew a lot of attention.

Sorry to hear of your loss, it was nice to have in the family while it lasted.
The glass is not half full, it was engineered with a 2X safety factor.

Sorry about the bike but glad your son wasn't hurt. Bikes are easily replaced.

The FJ 600 was the bike I always wanted way back when --- I am not sure why I didn't get one at the time --maybe cost -- maybe couldn't find one -- and ended up buying a GS550E -- which I grew to like a lot.

sorry to hear of the loss of the motor - hope its parts help keep others on the road.

Dang, it's becoming an epidemic.

Well, glad no one got hurt. But if you're parting it, it's an opportunity to start a new project.

That's too bad Bill. I've never (knock on wood) had a bike commit suicide. :flag_of_truce:
But if it can lessen the blow, there's a member here, JPerez, who is trying to get an FJ600 back on the road up in Oregon. Maybe some good can come out if this. :empathy3:

I just got a great email suprise, looks like I will be getting some parts for my FJ600 project. Sorry to hear the bike went but the parts wont go to waste.  Thanks for pointing Bill in my direction Pete.

Ohhh...this was hard to hear!  Good bike...good kid...Is he perhaps setting his sights on something in the 1100-1200 range?   :good2:

Easy fix, just do what Wicked radian did. Drop a 1200 motor in it.

Actually as soon as he's out of school and working, he's in love with R6's. I'd like him to go vintage, but he has his heart set on something quite a bit more modern. I made the mistake of letting him ride my Aprilia, and he got a taste for performance... Sometimes I can be quite the idiot.

Capn Ron

Ohhh, the R6 is a fine ride and well suited to runs up Mulholland!   :good2:

Easy fix that motor came in a 3 diff models in the USA. Your sure to be able to find a FJ, fz or the radian? If you like and the bikes worth fixing. Fix it.
