I can imagine how easy it is to change the filter. You don't even half to jack the bike up anymore :wacko2:

Or have oil on your exhaust, frame and kickstand switch.

Hey Noel,

Thanks for posting that pic. Is that just regular aluminum foil that you use as a drip catcher?

I was wondering how much of a mess is made by spinning the filter off. Your little catch tray answered my question.

I am waiting until my next oil change to install my new filter adapter.

I hope whatever that crap is in the bottom of that drip pan did NOT come out of your motor.  :-)

Great idea on the foil.  I've been using tape and cardboard.  I'll be doing that on my next change!

No, foil won't work. That is a piece of aluminium flashing, just stiff enough to hold it's shape while you push it in there and just soft enough to "mould" the end as you do.

You don't have to wait till then, fit it now, you only lose about a cup of oil swapping over. Just top it up. :good:

I know, it's just that, I just changed the oil & filter. Only took me one time (haven't owned the bike for long & didn't ride it for a while) to realize that the spin on adapter was a must have for me. I can wait until my next oil change.

Thanks
~JM~

Noel, what's that spring thingy down by the shift lever?

That would be the side stand spring.
