Ride height option ???'s

Hey Guys,
Been riding me 1100 for a couple of years now and it's become my everyday bike.
My question is.
What is the simplest/easiest mod to raise the rear ride height.
My issue is leg room as well as wanting some in improved handling.
Any advice greatly appreciated.

Since you asked for simple/easy and did not mention a budget, the RPM shock maybe getting a length adjustment feature. Randy was working on this possibility with the manufacturer but he made no promises, so we have to wait and see how this turns out. The other option requires an 89' shock link and related parts. This includes the dog bones, that can be made in different lengths that allow you to change the rear height. See item 9 for the link and 15 for the dog bones.

Raising the ride height will not get you anymore leg room.  The seat to peg distance will remain the same but it will be a longer reach to the ground in you want to install lower pegs.

Better handling can be had with a 17 inch front wheel conversion.

FYI, putting a 17" wheel on the rear will lower it about 1/2 an inch. It did on my 86' That is why I have already purchased the 89' link and I am gathering the other bits to convert over to dog bones.

As a suggestion try some adjustable foot pegs. You might PM "aviationfred" I think has some experience with them.  A set of Rentec or similar bars and install some foot rest on them to stretch out ?  As noted raising the rear will not increase your leg room.  I would check out the adjustable pegs first.

Not to Hijack the thread, but what parts are needed for this adjustment Mark? I have been looking at buy a swingarm to stock up for next winters projects, so should i rather consider a complete swingarm for 89+ (including the shock link)?
No point in buying a 86 if I intend to have rid height adjustment...

Ken, you can keep your Aluminum 86' swing arm with this mod. I am not sure what parts swap over from the 86' link. I have not detailed out the hardware. If the link is complete with all the bearings then I think it is just the dog bones, bolts & nuts.

I might be confussed here but I think if you are going to convert to dog bones you will need a 88-90 swingarm , relay arm, dog bones (which you can make) and a shock (clevis mount on the bottom). It seems the hardest part to locate is the relay arm, the rest is easy to locate.

You could have your seat custom made with more foam under you to raise you up. Its surprising how little you need to ease leg pain.
