I noticed my front tires tread was getting down there. Figured while I was in there might as well do the 16 to 17 inch wheel swap. To my pleasant surprise it had already been done two owners ago. I am all smiles today-lol

Interesting.

What made you think the PO did the 17" conversion?

You have a '89, correct?

The 87'/88' FZR750R/1000 wheel swap may have been done???  :scratch_one-s_head:

Pat has a good point. The 89' models came with a 17"x3" front wheel and no anti-dive on the forks.

Ah ok -lol. I am still friends with guy I bought it from and he said I should think about the wheel swap because they where 16's. I just assumed he knew what he was talking about and never bothered to look til yesterday .

He might have been referring to the rear wheel, that's a 16".  You'll love the 17" rear if you do it---shorter sidewalls, modern rubber choices and a better more modern profile tire.  The GSXR swap is pretty straight forward.

Not everyone understands what a completely rational process this maintenance of a motorcycle is. They think it's some kind of a knack or some kind of affinity for machines in operation. They are right, but the knack is almost purely a process of reason.
