It sat under a tarp outside for three years or so.    :unknown:

FWIW, Randy saw that pic a while back, and told me he's up for the challenge.

I'll bet he is!

I decided to let his knee heal for a bit before I took him up on it, though.

They're here...

and they smell as bad as that tank looks...  :wacko3:

I am going to have to get them torn down and cleaned so they don't stink up my shop :flag_of_truce:

The tank has been dry as a bone for some time, and it still stinks up the shop whenever I move it.     :empathy2:

Well...

Here we go, and I thought Billy's carbs were bad...these are 100 times worse

Three slides stuck in carbs
Two float needles corroded into needle seat
Three floats stuck; would not move with pin in.
Major Corrosion of internal carb parts.
Two pilot jets on right completely plugged to top.
All emulsion tubes had to be driven out.

I tried to blow carb cleaner and air through the internal posts of the carbs and most are completely plugged. They are in the cleaner now. If I can get them cleaned out then I think they can be saved, if not I gave the best effort.

We'll see...

UGH!
Looks like a write-off to me.  I would guess that the petcock wasn't working and let a tankful of fuel slowly replenish the bowls as it evaporated.

I've never seen that kind of gunk that attacked only the steel components.  Did the PO maybe use something funky in the fuel to try to stabilize it and ended up doing more damage?  Looks almost like battery corrosion.  Remembering stale 2-stroke fuel from back in the day, I can only imagine the stench.

I'm surprised that no float posts were harmed in the making of these pictures.

Yes what is that crud? Did he pour NOS in his tank? My bike had a full tank when it was parked. And was bone dry when I got it 10+years later. Didn't look anything like that.

The gas cap looks like someone filled the tank with great stuff foam. And then tried to remove it with battery acid. WOW!!!!
