Totally sucks, and I know this doesn't help, but now you are forced to make it your own. Have a special graphic or image in mind? now's the opportunity to do a little "custom tagging".
OH, and we have all screwed up once or twice..I don't know why things wait until you aren't looking before they go wrong.

HARTLESS

Well, for Yamaha logos as far as decals I can make several of those for about 2 bucks. My old high school shop has a decal machine and I still keep in touch with the shop teacher. Problem is they cut his hours so he has a weird schedule and summers off. All I need is a .bmp (bitmap) image or to convert it to that. If anyone needs anything I can try and get in there to do it. The hardest part is the application. I made several for my vision because the 3d logos looked like crap. The colors are pretty basic though

Mine had something worse than "orange peel",,,, it had "orange paint"

So I rattle-can'd it.

It isn't everyone's "cup of tea", but it works for me.  Suits me just fine mate :)

Today I picked up the paint for the Fuel tank....they guy in the paint shop told me they used shit clear coat on it as the stuff used never cures properly and thats what caused that....anyway i took it to the painter. I was going to have a go myself but I have never painted 2 Pak before also being cold it may not dry properly. So decided to farm it out. Glad I did now. The painter and I marked out with masking tape where the YAMAHA stickers go and also talked about the original stripes not being touched. We masked up where the stickers went and took a template as a guide with measurements.  What happened next was unexpected but clarified why the stickers came off the way they did.....there's some shit painters around that take shortcuts.....after masking up the stickers and marking the areas, we removed the tape. bugger me the tape peeled the clear coat off as if it were sticky tape..... The painter said its shit paint and preparation that caused this... Oh this is going to be more than a headache. I told him do what you can, after seeing this I don't expect miracles.  Now it's a wait and see thing. It really shits me when peopletake shortcuts. When I painted and repaired cars I never substituted cost for quality, it would only comeback and bite you in the arse. Anyway its in getting done now so let's wait and see.

Jeff,
glad you're hanging in there. You really will have earned some trouble free saddle time when this is sorted and hits the road.

The tanks in getting painted. I'm glad I didn't do it now. Went and had a look a a couple of  days ago. The guy who is doing it has spent a lot of time and care not to touch the decals. It was just about to be under coated when I saw it. I removed 2 sets of Yamaha decals off it and apparently there was another one under there. I didn't  see it. Anyway I waited and saw it under coated. Looked good, even if it was undercoat. Anxious moments now...... I went today to see if it was ready. It was away getting the YAMAHA decals put on before the clearcoat goes on. From what I heard the base coat came up brilliantly.. Now I'm really keen to see it. Fingers and toes  crossed it will look good. I'm told the paint match was perfect.  I'm going to get something done to it when I get it back to protect he paint from bird shit and chips. Got to leave it cure a couple of weeks first. Suits me fine. I got the shocker off As well. Hope to sort that out. Is a temporary fix until I get the RWC done and randy gets his one sorted. Exhausts are going this week to get repacked as well. Tyres, chain and sprockets left to do. Then hopefully cruising time.

Got the tank back from the painter. Done a magnificent job. I have tried to Post a pic but no luck. Keeping in mind the painter had to watch out for the sticker I am very happy with the result. It has to go back and be polished so I'm reluctant in putting back on just yet. The paint match is perfect. Even the painter was impressed. Also I'm still doing bits to it so I'm not risking anything. Also going to try get a clear protector for it. Temporary Shockers in, tyre, chain and mufflers left to go. It's officially of age now for club reg. now I'm starting to get impatient

$100 for he club fee and $132 for 90 days riding or $66 for 45 days riding. I believe it $625 or $645 for full reg now. Bugger that. If I had to pay hat I think I would get rid of it. Considering its only $50 extra to register a car. It's ridiculous.
