Dean is a great rider and was very fast, smooth and controlled all week.

Yes, the zone.  I get there often, both on bikes and on skis.  What a great feeling; I've noticed that good weather makes it happen to me, but eventually fatigue sneaks in while I'm too busy having fun to notice and surprise - I'm heading towards earth.  As I've aged I've learned to recognize it sooner - I don't heal as fast as I used to!

I just enjoyed a cervical spine dissection with fusion last week.  No FJ riding until spring, but you can bet I'll even more careful the next time out on the bike.  The zone will still be visited, but for shorter periods of time.

Your crash photos are excellent.  Even the best riders get into trouble occasionally, and the sequence of images really captures how quickly it happens.  Being one of the best riders, you scrubbed off speed while maintaining control, and when it went high you were still on the safe side of the road.  Wearing good gear minimized your injuries and you rode back to camp.

Hope your aches and pains are subsiding.  It's good that you have a "backup" FJR to ride while repairing the FJ!
