Sounds like I might be sending the set of mufflers out as well - I'm good with that.

Mate, I'd love to come to Croatia! You could also introduce me to Darko with the globe trotting FJ!  :good2:

Well, to talk to Drako you should come to CRO by motorcycle then, through Indonesia, etc.

But but but the mounting points would not work, correct?

Oh well - I sent the stuff in good faith, I did my part......

I remeber back in 94 i think it was i had the inner downpipe  rattle solution was small selfdrilling screws right thru the bends.I then got new rattles from the side mufflers soulution was drilling out the poprivets remove the backplate and remove the 3 or 4 small tubes innside the mufflers and then pop the backplate on. I dont think my neighbors did like the new sound on my FJ when i started it with choke half six in the mornings  :sarcastic:

If the cans are the earlier models pre 91 it should be fine. I'm pretty sure you not only done your part, but done well. :good2:

Just talked to Dale with Valley Cycle Dyno Tune in East McKeesport and he has the Yoshi system off and about ready to ship to me. I am a little discouraged, he said it's real rusty, but as long as it cleans up and can be coated, I'll be happy. Unless the can is trashed, no - think positive!
One comment he made was the studs were too short for the flanges. I checked, and the studs and flanges are the same for the 11 & 12 - could the original owner swapped them out for better fit the Yoshi system?
Me, I'd probably use washers or spacers - any thoughts?

You may need to make or buy some flanges. I've a few old non OEM systems including a Motad one which uses different flanges for the headers. Perhaps you need the Yoshi header flanges or simple flat ones.

Ah - The stock flanges take special bolts, the Yoshi uses regular locking style.

TBH Troy, a lot of folk have done this on FJ's I've seen here in the U.K. - I think some people use them to try to tighten the flanges closer to the cyl heads when they forget (or don't know) to use the deformable alloy/copper "gaskets" between the header pipes and the cyl head.

Mate the PO LOVED this bike. I'm not sure if he did it himself, or had 'expert' mates help, but he well and truly fucked up sooooooooo many things. I'm nearly 8K into this heap and won't sleep till Brooklyn. Every nut is either finger tight or so over tightened I need half my local town to hang on the end of a spanner (the big half, and there are lots of them :) ), or every screw needs either easy out or impact drive. There are shenanigans that will likely only see the light of day when the sun burns out or the universe achieves heat death.

You should have made a video, sure it would be beneficial to many of us.  :wacko3:
