Howdy folks
My left carb is leaking when a remote gas tank is hooked to the carbs. I can't seem to fix it I just put a new o ring on the seat no diff ,,,, is this an assembly error or do I need new bits, and what would they be? Thanks

Binding on float pin
Float rubbing/hitting on edge of fuel bowl.
Float leaking
Needle binding or not in good alignment to the seat
Hope some of this helps.

So it only leaks with the remote gas tank?

That would indicate an install problem with the remote tank, too much static head? And that carb is the weakest link????

My 85 had gas leaking out of vent tube. I had the carbs off a couple of times before and was concerned
about the needle and seats condition In each carb. I bought four Yamaha, not after market needle and seats
From randy and Robert at RPM. I kept the carbs together. Didn't separate. And payed close attention to
the float positions, cause I didn't want to mess with adjusting float levels. Don't have a measurement tool
and know I would screw it up.
So I bench measured the needle seat height, and it was identical to the Yamaha float and seats that Robert sent me. So I figured that the new ones would would work w/o bending float tangs. What a pain to get the
tank on and off, with the tight fuel line placement. Not to mention, getting the carbs on and off, making sure
they don't suck Unfiltered air. Anyway, the bike does not leak and runs perfect. RESULT!
Must be clean living. My old needle and seats didn't look that bad. But rust can hold them open, and the needles can hang up on sides and not drop down to hold fuel back. It's about $80 bucks for four I think and
I had them in two days. Good luck, take your time, and try not to cuss.
