I'm sure with lots of cash an fj could hit 200mph ( 320??) Kmh maybe on a nice long runway or saltflat  :scratch_one-s_head: tucked in behind the fairing and laying out along the seat in ya jocks
unless you ride bikes, I mean really ride bikes, then you just won't get it

84 Fj1100  effie , with mods
( 88 ) Fj 1200  fairly standard , + blue spots
84 Fj1100 absolutely stock standard, now more stock , fitted with Fj12 twin system , no rusted headers for this felicity jayne

I saw the needle sweep past the 145mph mark once. It was on a slight downhill with a tail wind. wooah!!! :wacko1:

Well, I don't know what the real speed was, but I finally got to 8000 rpm in 5th before I chickened out.   :flag_of_truce:
(It was still pulling hard and I was having to concentrate on hanging on)

I'm running a stock rear wheel and 17x40 gearing.

I down loaded the my tracks that brad mentioned, to my mobile, just to see if the 1200,s speedo was acurate, as it works fine up to 90 kmh then starts bouncing up to 120,any speed after that its steady , can confirm my tracks works well, thanks brad, just need to get effie on the road and compare it with her digital speedo :good2:

I've checked mine with GPS, and a "RADAR cart" left on the side of the road. One of those things with the big sign "YOUR SPEED IS:" and then a RADAR readout.  Both methods showed a pretty linear 9% error, indicating on the high side, from 35MPH, up to 90MPH..... SL was 55, so I didn't want to push it any more.

Fastest I've seen on my '90 was 155 indicated, and still pulling, don't recall what the revs were.

Saw 120mph indicated just an hour ago. A personal record. Probably wont be going that fast again. I am 53 years old after all. :good2:

I had the speedo pegged above 165 for a couple of miles on my old custom '92. It had been "souped up" a bit by the previous owner. I can only go by the speedo, as this was in the days before GPS, but the needle was above 165. I was riding on HWY 77 between Kingsville and Raymondville in South Texas. 77 passes through the King Ranch for about 60 miles. (Yeah, it's a big ranch) The highway is flat and straight, not much traffic, not much wildlife to worry about during the day. So I decided to open it up, all the way. Took a mile or so to max out from about 100 MPH, around 1100 RPM, if I recall correctly. The highway stripes all blended together to look like one solid stripe, and it felt like the bike was barely touching the ground. Going that fast makes your mind real, REAL, focused. That's the fastest I've ever been outside of a jet airplane. And, Hey, Lightspeed, I saw 125 on my new one today too. I'm also 53. If we keep it below about 150 MPH, we might just see 54...
The Yamaha FJ is the perfect motorcycle - comfortable enough to ride 500 miles in a day, fast enough to do it in 7 hours. Really.

Is "53"like a magical number that makes your balls shrivel up or maybe  turns you into Herbie the Love Bug?

145 mph according to the speedo on this road in Wyoming.  Once was enough.

Where in Wyo was this?
