The key to getting parts for older bikes is to look up your own parts online and take the part numbers in with you. Its doubtful the dealer will still have them i stock, but in most cases can get them fairly quickly. You will want to have them check to ensure that the number has not been superseded, or check online if the source has a cross reference. I look mine up on www.worldofpowersports.com as they have the feature built in, although its a bit clumsy as you have to cut and paste the numbers from the shopping car to a page titled 'quick order' to get the new numbers.

Every online lookup I have seen shows the original number and unless the dealer checks for a superseded number your part can show up as discontinued.

I usually order from a local dealer who give me a decent discount based on volume business. you might even check on shipping policy as I normally order my parts by email and have them shipped to my door as shipping is appx 1/2 of what the gas would cost me to go there and I don't waste as much time.

I have great luck with my local dealer, mind you I may be lucky that the guy I deal with knows these bikes and is well into bikes, racing and into his job. They have no problem in getting parts longest I've waited for a part is 10 days, I get great customer service as does everybody that walks in there, it is there policy and it does not seem to matter how old the bike is.
