Not so. There's no caliber to a potato cannon - you just chamfer the edge of the PVC barrel, place the projectile-candidate spud on the ground, and push the weapon down over the prospective round. Presto! Custom fit. Then seat\chamber the round with a stick from the kindling pile. Might even get multiple rounds out of a 2-pounder.

OTOH, if the spuds are small - like new potatoes or fingerlings - just load up a handful and you've got a Potato Shotgun. This also works with the trimmings from the loading procedure detailed above. No waste, and they're bio-degradeable.
