.....just a light hone and re install the same pistons, may be worth doing the rings I don't know yet.

Jools, now that you're flush with money from your lotto win, why wouldn't you do the rings? (even if you weren't flush)

I've never even contemplated re using rings in 40 years and hundreds of engines, nor can I recall anyone else doing it.

Although 6 speeds SOUNDS nice - that gearbox would have you wishing for 8th gear!  If you geared this box for the same top speed as the stock 5 speed -- first gear is so tall it would be like starting in 2nd gear on the 5 speed!  Very similar situation with the Hayabusa 6 speed - more gears but they are bunched closer together and have less overall gear spread from bottom to top!

I agree with you FJ1289. Very easy to get caught in the 6 speeds but not spaced appropriately for road use in my view. I certainly don't have that sort of cash to waste in proving that.

You are quite correct and I have been pricing up rings accordingly. "now" flush should be changed to "was" flush. It could quite easily have beem wasted on household items...............

The cylinder head was mailed off to Powerflow yesterday.

To keep Noel happy the shim / bucket storage was revised.............

I was going to cut up one of those Bunnings jigsaw floor tiles with the holes,
but the holes were only 25mm diameter, so I made my own version:
