An oddity at work this morning

One of the things that I think is interesting......I would think that it has an air bag rear suspension. Look how close the rear fender cut out is to the tire...... Also notice that it has a Dually rear axle.

Sticking the front axle out in front of the grille seems to be all the rage among the rat rod builders as of late. I guess it's cool as long as you never drive in the rain.....but, yeah I'll give it points for the flathead Ford.

It always astounds me how you can get away with bugger all safety considerations for vehicles in the USA. That vehicle would NEVER be allowed to be registered here in Aus.
I also notice that there is no registration plate on it that I can see, so maybe its not legal anyway.

Some states here do not require a plate on the front. States like Texas do but don't enforce it so many vehicles don't have front plates here either.

Vehicle requirements do vary, state by state, in the USA.  Calling it a farm truck, you can get away with a lot of missing things, because it is not for use on public roads.  Where I live, this rig would get bagged for having no front fenders (you would need to mount huggers), no front bumper, and rear wheels not covered by the bodywork or fender flares (insufficient rear fenders).  At any rate, that is a serious chunk of iron, and I doubt that it could outrun anything, except maybe in the mud.

Likewise in the UK. It would get stopped by an alert policeman for lack of mudguards.
They seem so fundamental as regards safety in a downpoor and frontal vision. Maybe they never drive it when it rains.
