Cam chain tensioner

Hi all now the bike is off the road for winter I have dived into finding an oil leak that's been bugging me. I have found its coming from the cam chain tensioner gasket. My question is it possible to change the gasket just removing the tensioner without risking mucking up the timing?

   Shouldn't be a problem. Do not turn the engine over until the tensioner has been re-installed!  Pete.

I might add you will probably need to pull your air box and carbs. To do the job. At least with mine it took some tension on the socket to get it back together.  Make sure it is installed correctly. There is an up or down side .  Details....

Yea, like making note of how its installed (oriented), before you remove it.

On my post I said "tension" it should read pressure... You have to push against and stiff spring.
