I found a reproduction red stripe set online for 103 GBP. http://www.bdesigns.ca/88_FJ1200_act.htm

I may order the set and see how close the color matches. The temporary stripe is electrical tape.

Hi Fred,

I don't think I'd spend the money on that set. Instead, I'd find someone in town who does custom vinyl graphics and see if they can match the color. I'll be it will be a lot cheaper and faster too!

I am considering painting the 87' all white and adding a set of 50th anniversary graphics.....

It's Rossi's 50th year riding for Yamaha?

Seems about right. :-)

I finally removed the temporary red electrical tape from the lower cowling and replaced with a set of factory matched main fairing stripes.  Looks much better with the metallic red.

Fred, you really do have a great looking, unique FJ. That 50th anniversary decal set also looks like it could be amazing. Hard choice. Hard to modify one that looks so good as is, though!

Not everyone understands what a completely rational process this maintenance of a motorcycle is. They think it's some kind of a knack or some kind of affinity for machines in operation. They are right, but the knack is almost purely a process of reason.
