After 18 months of searching, I finally found a Lockhart Phillips FJ1100 lower cowling. I purchased it from a fellow member here. It was red when i received it. I repaired some cracks and blown out mounting holes, and painted it with Color Rite OEM Yamaha Silky White paint.

Here is what it looked like on the 1100.

After the repairs and paint.

Fred, the repairs & paint look outstanding on the lower!  A suggestion:  A continuation of the red stripe would add a lot.
One other observation:  Using the lower precludes using Renntec bars, which would be a no-go for me.  Too bad, because it really looks sharp!!!

Great find and work Fred ! Those lowers are rare to find not attached to a bike. Around here it would be a snow plow .

Ed,
I have debated adding a Red strip at the top. I might try a strip of red electrical tape to see how it looks.

:good2: A big thank you goes out to Paul1965 for selling me the cowling.  :drinks:

How about "YAMAHA" in the same color font as "FJ1200"?  That's a lot of real-estate for one color, I broke mine up with some graphics.  Yours looks awesome!

think it looks nice like it is red stripe doesn't seem to work right

Maybe it's an illusion but it looks like theres an stiffer angle on the cowl. It probably can't be dropped in the back or something. I can see the angle against the engine fins. The red line makes it stand out. It looks like only about 1/2" offset. Really nice looking though. I think  it looks better without the line.

That's nice but I think it looks better with the stock lower fairing.  One of the great attractions of looking at an FJ is seeing that monster engine.  Cover it up and you might as well just be riding a slab-sided Honda.

I put a temporary RED stripe on the cowling. It does not look too bad.

Looks good Fred, I think it needs the red stripe.

I like the red stripe. Makes it flow!

I agree, it looks way better with the red stripe.

As I said over on FB, I like the red stripe.  You may want to consider tapering the red stripe so that it becomes thinner as it transitions towards the front of the bike, like the stripe on the upper fairing.

I found a reproduction red stripe set online for 103 GBP. http://www.bdesigns.ca/88_FJ1200_act.htm

I may order the set and see how close the color matches. The temporary stripe is electrical tape.
