I'm sure the cabins are full, and probably the pull-ins, too.
But I doubt if there are enough FJers around to fill up the tent camping space. :unknown:
Tellico vacation rentals has cabins available at a decent price.

True, I should have mentioned that the cabins are unavailable. Somehow tent camping in a low spot during hurricane season doesn't seem very attractive.

Mike, after a call down there in which she said her husband was in charge of PayPal invoices, that he was behind, and I would receive one 'on Wednesday', and having failed to receive it, I called again. She then gave me a story about her husband being away 'on a family emergency', and he would try to get them out upon his return. She went on to say that our reservations were secure, and not to worry if we didn't get them at all, as we could just pay upon arrival.

My brother just picked up an 86 all red from Norman Oklahoma today. So the parts for the right side shifter. That I got from Leon and Kevin. Will be going on this week. Plus he said he's going to meet me at the ECFR. I've got a 12 1/2 hr ride from Wi. And he's got about an hour longer ride from OKC.
Can't wait to see everyone again and introduce my brother to you all.

Sitting here in Spokane, WA at the hotel for the night. Reading posts and getting my fix on for the rally. Can't wait! I think I'll have a new chain and new tire on the bike when I get home....maybe. Who knows.
We'll be there sometime Monday.
I rode in the back seat of the car today coming back to civilization around a road in ID, around a Lake Couer d'Alene, and it was one twisty road. Perfect for the bike, but not so much for riding in the back seat of an automobile.

Danny Boy, You probably won't even recognize me. Between the thumpin V-Twin and the big change in my body weight from not riding a sportbike since the 2011 fall rally I had to go out and buy all new gear. On second thought I will still have the same dusty old helmet. Didn't really need to buy one considering the new bike and the helmet laws here in KY.
I will keeo an eye on my mirrors al the way to "earning" my dragon sticker and survivor t shirt.

Disaster strikes!
I was out riding local trails with a buddy this morning, got screwed up and fell over trying to cross a big pile of rocks. Not going fast but just tipped over to the left and shifter punched a hole the size of my pinky finger in my stator cover. Had to push it out to the road and call my son to come get me.
:ireful:
Anyway, 11 days til ecfr and this. New cover ordered should be here about Thurs 9/12.. as long at that happens, I should easily be good to go with time to spare. Makes me a little nervous though.

I'm 50/50 whether I can make it. If so, it might just be a matter of meeting you guys on Saturday, but I'm hoping to be able to head up for Friday night too.
From the article:
"A $71,116.79 grant from the Governor's Highway Safety Office, which covers a period from Oct. 1, 2012, to Sept. 30, 2013, will pay overtime funds to the motorcycle officers"
That money is almost a year old! I'll bet most of it has already been spent. They might still be able to field someone on a scooter though...

.. thats going on this weekend (right now).. :
""troopers on motorcycles will saturate U.S. Highway 129, during Sept. 13-15, The decision to saturate "The Dragon" with motorcycle officers was prompted by two events this weekend expected to bring heavy motorcycle traffic to the challenging road. In Maggie Valley, N.C., the "Thunder in the Smokies" event will be under way and in Pigeon Forge the "Fall Rod Run" will be held. Authorities expect to have a sobriety checkpoint established on U.S. Highway 129 on Saturday.

If you'll get hungry for some country hams and smoked bacon there's a place not far away in Madisonville right on Hwy 411. Hope you'll have a great rally and I'll seeya next year hopefully

The stars have come into alignment. I will be coming down Wednesday -arriving late. 90% chance I'll be trailing it. I have just made reservations for cabin #5 Wed-Sat (Sat night was not avail, so I'll tent it, or leave early...) -we'll see.
Looking forward to it.

Leaving Tuesday Morning and will hook-up with Carey at Winchester VA. Should arrive before 7Pm.
Rats. And drat.
Yet another FJ Rally fated to remain bereft of my verbose, auspicious personage, unless the FJ Fairy (no names, please) elects to grace me with unexpected fiduciary largesse within the next few periods of planetary revolution. The traditional Rally Bonfire Schottische will be one member short.
TRoy: Peach wine??? No. Peach brandy, yes. No apple beer, either. The only Peach Whine should be, "But...it's not from Jaaaaawwwjaaaaaaa..."
Seriously, have a good, safe time. Say "howdy" to everyone, and fire off a few potato cannon rounds for me. I miss you folks; it's been too damned long.

Rock - in your honor we will take turns wearing red disco boots, sipping whatever gets passed and talking at length using big and possibly made up words that nobody is 100% on the meaning. I'm glad you're still checking in and thinking about ECRs.. Maybe Boone?
I'm planning on leaving 7ish Wed morning, arriving around 5p. Planning to ride unless weather starts to look bad for wed or sunday.
Roughly, Richmond, to Danville, to Winston Salem to Lenoir to Asheville by midday/early pm.
74 down to Stecoah then either via Robbinsville-cherohala or fontana-deals gap to TP TN.
If this sounds like any part of somebody's ride route Wed, get ahold of me and we'll try to meet up.
it appears i will be arriving a few hours before carey and herny. who all will be at the section 8 rally point, i'll come and hang out there for a bit.

I don't know what you mean. "Possibly made up words"? Au contraire, mon frere. That would be unforgivably gauche. And as for the so-called "disco boots", they're temporarily hors d'combat because the FJ is currently unregistered and they clash with the Wee-Strom, hence I would be thus commiting a fashion faux pas.
Boone...I sure hope so.

Dood,
Those boots gave their life to protect my son on my 25th anniversary. May they rest in peace.
I should be there around 4-5pm today... :good2:
We're leaving savannah in the morning, should hit Tellico mid afternoon
I'll be leaving early tomorrow morning. The plan was to meet my brother in Nashville. Stay the night in motel, and ride the rest of the way together. But he's been having a hard time fixing all the little things on the 86 he just bought. And then he noticed last night that the back tire is mounted backwards. And he can't get a replacement in time and doesn't know if he should ride it that way. You know how they say they will delamenate. And traction in rain.
So I may be coming down by myself again
My plan is to trailer up early wed morning with both bikes and plan to arrive before or around noon.

The "bowling shoes" in the picture are not the footwear to which Danny's referring. That's just a cheap-ass pair of patent-leather high-tops that happened to be in '86 FJ colors and I thought it might be good for a laugh.
THESE are the Disco Boots:

Apparently my 50/50 turned out to be 0/0. I hate that I'll miss the rally, but I'll see you goobers in Boone.
Made it to the campground
Stu, sorry to miss ya.
Rock, sorry to miss you as well. Glad to see you posting again, though! Next time, brother, next time......
Andrew and I are riding north from Atlanta during the day on Friday. Depending on how long it takes to change the FJ oil and fix a couple other things on the wife's car before we leave Friday, we should have a nice ride north and get there well before dinner - it's barely 2-1/2 hours the boring way, but we'll probably go up Georgia 60 through Ductown TN / Route 68 to Tellico, it's much more fun. The current plan is to bunk in a cabin with Dave Skipper, my friend from work who brought a GTS-1000 to Tellico last year. I think he gets there today or tomorrow, and may be bringing a really interesting modified Fazer. But, if the cabins are too small, I'll bring a tent just in case. Andrew's EX500 hasn't sold yet, so he'll be riding that. We both have new tires (ME-Z8s for the FJ, BT-090 radials for the EX500) so it should be a nice weekend of riding.
{went back & read a few pages.....} Frank, and Calvin??? Excellent!
Can't wait!
MY FIRST POST IN FOREVER :wacko3: LOOK FOWARD TO SEEING EVERYONE AT """THE RALLY!!!!!!!
