17 days and counting till we're on the road to Tellico!
And both good luck and bad, the horse show I was supposed to work may be canceled (bad luck no paycheck for me) because of lack of entries. The good luck in that is I won't have to leave in the middle of the rally and miss 3 days of riding.
NancyK
sounds like a winner. i'll be arriving that tuesday.
Sounds good Dean, I can have something for supper on the grill. Course you're stuck with 'cooks choice'.
tRoy said he would be coming in on Monday. I seem to remember talking to NancyG last May and she said her and Jack would be there on Monday as well.
Now however, Jeff throws out at me another day. He comes home last night to ask if I want to leave on Friday to go up. Um....now to rearrange things yet again, Friday was my day to move my horse to the horse sitters, Blue to get a bath so he doesn't stink and generally get myself ready. Now he wants to go up on that day. PLUS Jeff thinks I can sleep in the tent for a couple of nights until we check in on Sunday at the KOA.
See ya'll soon!
NancyK
Are we there yet?
Slow down I'm still waiting for parts. :wacko3:
Can't slow down! Gotta get in the mtns where it's cooler! I truly need some downtime.
Hurry up Fred....

Isn't there some rule about not working on the FJ within x days of a rally lest there be heartbreak and disaster?
Just wondering,
Dan
5 more days!
spoke with heff joffman last night, he's arriving tuesday evening with a buddy from sweden. they're staying until friday, when they depart to go to the annual "silencer show". that boy just ain't right...
See there another one for firewood patrol!
Down to the last few hrs. Am I ready, not even close. Not only do I pack for vacation, but I have to also think of what I'll need for the 'job.' We'll never be ready to leave in the morning at o'dark thirty.
don't forget blue!
Oh trust me Mr. Blue will not let that happen. Since he went to the groomer's today, he knows something is up. Will not let me out of his sight. He'll hopefully still not stink by the time everyone gets there next week. And if he does, then I'll give him another bath.
Jeff is out doing whatever it is menfolk do when they should be at home packing. :) And he got on to me that my FJ was going to the rally dirty. Said I couldn't do that.....my reply was "watch me!"
NancyK
Well we didn't leave at oh-dark-thirty like I had wanted to. In fact as of right now we're passing thru Gainesville, FL and all the traffic going to the Gator game. So who knows when we'll get to Tellico, but time doesn't matter. I'm not on anyone's schedule, now am I?
BUT I'm a happy camper....I have wi-fi and can sit here on my laptop while Jeff drives and entertain myself.
See ya'll soon.
NancyK
Ok, didn't get to leave when we wanted to, so that put us up here at o dark thirty (8:30). And as I pulled into the KOA driveway, blue lights lite up behind me. Oh no I certainly wasn't speeding across 68. Turns out the trailer lights were not working and he just wanted to let me know. Nice, no ticket. So as usual I make a grand entrance. At least the bike stayed on the trailer. :)
BUT, I'm in cabin 1, that's Henry and Carey's cabin. I even asked her where she was going to put Henry and Carey. Doesn't seem to have anyone by those names listed. This is not good. I feel strange in their cabin.
Ok ya'll, hurry up so we can get this party started
NancyK
IT'S RAINING!!!! Who ordered that!
well at least there wont be any harleys on the road. :mocking:
It quit raining and we (Jack, NancyG, Jeff & I) had a nice run across the Cherohala back and forth. Foggy on the way over, really nice on the way back.
Dean is here!
NancyK
Dan Arrived her last night from FLA. bikes are ready and we should be heading out into the fun wet stuff in about an hour. So how fast does one have to ride for the rain not to catch him? JIm
Don't know how fast you have to ride, but I'm sure you'll be able to tell me when you get here. It ain't raining now, but it has been and it's still overcast.
See ya'll soon.
NancyK
2:00 and I am finally on the road. Expect to arrive sometime around 7:30.
If anyone needs me to pick anything up call my cell at eight 5 nine- four eight 6- zero 2 five 9
Bill :drinks:
It's 8pm and we're about 2 1/2 hrs from home. Just passed the ag station in FL. FINALLY we have run out of rain. But it has rained on us ever since leaving Tellico this morning.
NancyK
Back home safe at 7pm, very good time considering the absolutely horrid riding conditions most of the way... my wingman Bill could attest, except that he was sipping coffee and chatting on the phone much of the time. :unknown:

Yeah, that's right... he was in his truck.

Seems like rain is a regular part of the ECFR, but, fun can and always does seem to happen there. Feel free to regale us with stories etc. I always look forward to the posts immediately following a rally.
Hope everyone stayed upright.
Dan
We got home about 11 last night. Made more stops on the way home than on the way up. Was in search of frozen/iced coffee. None to be found! Had rain from Tellico to just into FL. Today the sun is out and it's hotter than blue blazes.
Stories....all I know is that Jack has taught Jeff (rides an interceptor) a new trick, so now he'll be hanging his skinny butt off the seat when he goes around a corner.
NancyK
Glad everyone made it home safe!!
All I have to go on is the 24 pics posted so far here:

But it seems like everyone had a good, fun, wet time!! :yahoo:
So - no crashes this rally?

Don't try to keep up with Hoffman if you have a bald front tire?
(my very first rally...following Hoffman...in the pouring rain...nearly bald front tire...no, I rever went down...but I did hydroplane A LOT!)

All I got was a cell phone pic of my FJ with a rainbow in the background, Friday after the rain stopped. Now I just need to find my cable to download it. What I REALLY wish I'd gotten was the waterfall across the street from T.W.O. (which looked like a hydro plant) and the stream between the T.W.O. campground and the lodge (which was up over the footbridge.)
