Bike has finally just got registered - i wouldn't recommend registering an "out of state" repairable write-off in NSW, way too many hoops to jump through, but thats another story in itself. To celebrate i just booked a room for the Rally. So that makes Grant plus one other, hopefully my Dad on his FJ, if not it will have to be a non-fj rider ------------ Grant.,

On a happier note
30 year rego :yahoo:
In my state that means the rego will go from around $700.00 a year to $50.00 a year for Vintage conditional rego :good2:
I only ride me FJ100 around 3 times a year having 5 registered bikes,
instead of $250.00 a ride it will be $15.00 a ride :dance2:
And one of the FJ1200's I have is a 12/85, I thought the 1200's didn't start till 1986 :unknown: so it will come on cheap rego a year earlier than expected as
the Roads & traffic only count the year not the month of build
Yeah CanDman. That is a bummer! :empathy:
Maybe next time.

Yah beat me by 6, the 12/85 is 000169 & the 1/86 is 000254
Jeff, Flips, Megsy,
Seems like you're trying to argue about calendar year vs model year.
Australia classifies a motor vehicle based on the BUILD month and year
In many other countries the designation is MODEL year.
US cars built in September are usually the next year's model.
My neighbor had a '91 model year FJ1200b (pink stripe, rubber mounted engine, Blue & White color, steel swingarm) that was classed as a '90 on his title. The serial no. was ......0001
Arnie
This is taking the post away from its original topic sorry,
The discussion is about age for Conditional Rego, .
The RTA or RMS in nsw, class a bike 30 years old by year, not month,
a 12/85 is classed as 30 years old 12 months before a 1/86, even though it's only 1 month older (depending on day of month)
So far what I have seen, the 1200 came out in 1986,
so a 12/85 model 1200 is a bonus for cheap rego as it is classed as 30 years old,
12 months before a plated 1/86,
saving around $600.00 for club rego.

But Megsy, its only 2013 now, so neither are 30 years old yet....... or am I missing something here?
Harvy
The new models come out in October of each year so a 11/85 or 12/85 were actually 86 models!! Yamaha and all Japanese manufactures follow the US release dates so October is the release of the next years models that way all their vehicles are the same as the US.
NSW Rego works on the yr on the compiance plate as do most of the states so even tho you may have an 86 model( 11/85 or 12/85) you would be able to get the 30 yr rego before someone who has an 1/86 complianced vehicle :nyam2: .
Baldy
What I think was missed was,
in my original post, I said I hoped to catch up with CanDman "NEXT" year which means my FJ1100 will then be 30 years old,
I then referred to the 1200 having a 12/85 plate, so in 2 years time I will get cheap rego on it as well.
I now own 4 FJ1200's but have never ridden one because I have 17 bikes here in my shed, 5 of which are registered,
And on average only get ridden once or twice a year,
I sadly cannot justify the rego cost on the FJ1200's as well till they qualify for Club rego,
which is around $50.00 a year including the CTP green slip insurance. :good2:

Ahhh, so am I right in saying that my 12/92 plated FJ was actually sold as a 1993 model? Actually hang on........ back now. In my workshop manual the sale details of when I bought the FJ list it as a '93 model, so it must be right. Gets confusing some of this.

My poor old bike is still waiting for it's engine. The mechanic was about to put it all back together and noticed the cam chain guide was under par, so I had to order one quick, 2 weeks from Japan. :dash2:
When I do get the engine back, assemble the works, then synch everything, then solve the niggly bits, then get the head re-torqued, it will be too late for me to come up by march 9th.
I will wander up maybe mid-march and visit a relative anyway...
But count me out. not happy.
cheers, Gareth
If something falls through on your cam chain guide, let me know. I have all of them in stock and with priority shipping you would have in your hands in 7-10 days.
Randy - RPM
Thanks for the offer,
When this bloody bike stops bleeding me of money I might get a chance to shop for some bits and pieces, thanks for the heads up on the cam chain guide.

Hey all....... Sadly Peta's mum had a heart attack last month. She has recovered but needs constant care and is on oxygen 24/7. She has moved into our home and Peta (an RN) has quit work to look after her.
So Peta won't be coming to Bellingen with me.
I have a room booked with, I think, a spare bed, so anyone attending and not booked yet .......
Harvy

While it does look good for the rally dates (7th to 12th March) I would pack some wet weather gear just in case. (especially if ya got a post Rally trip of a week or two). I`ll bring an umberella for Baldy. :drinks:
