I am new to this forum but not new to motorcycling. Riding street/dirt for over thirty years. Bought my 93 FJ1200 back in 94 I was working in a Yamaha dealership and all ways wanted one when Yamaha quit making them. In the spring of 94 the owner of the shop went to a Yamaha auction and purchased some new still in crate 93 models. So I thought last chance if you want a new one. Many things have come and gone in my life but my FJ has remained. It has 21,000 miles has been stored inside and still looks great. I went for a ride today (got rained on) and had as much fun as ever. Started my own business about eight years ago did not leave much time for riding but you need that sanity break. I am going to start riding a couple of times a week. Always looking for some one who wants to go for a ride. My FJ has a Vance&Hines exhaust, Corbin saddle, has been jetted, along with many other small mods. I love this forum and am looking forward many other great ideas, this could get spendy. Brake mods, new rear shock, 17" rear wheel and on and on you know the story. There is nothing like a quiet road 5th gear 6,000rpm, 100mph and your FJ says wake me when we get there! So many lonely roads in Utah. One of the things I love about this place! I hope to get to know you better over months and years to come. Thanks to everyone for making this such GREAT FORUM!!!!!!!!!!!!
Great intro. I am fairly new to this site as well, but there is a wealth of info. here. I live in the interior of British Columbia Canada and we have a lot of great roads here as well. So welcome to the madness. Big R

Welcome from Downunder. Nice Intro. For even better Sanity, progress to an additional coupla weeks of riding, at least once a year...They can end up virtually self funded. Doug

Damn!!! I need to change my Signature!!! That is way better than my Engineering/Geek one.... But it is not mine....Think dammit!!!! Think!!!
Well Damn! Another FJ'r in Utah. :good2: Any others?
I just moved here couple weeks ago, and the ol' girl is getting some long overdue spending done on her, like new Pirelli's and fork seals.
I anticipate she'll be road ready in a couple weeks. (paperwork rego insurance, ya know, all that spendy time-consuming crap) But then I'll be buggering off back to Australia for a couple months.
I'll be looking forward to some rides with ya mate upon my return, though you could always drop on by for a visit in the meanwhile.
I'm up in Brigham. where 'bouts in Salt Lake are ya?
:yahoo: RUMBOY sorry you going down under for a few months but fall is a great time to ride in Utah. As for your fj get-R-done. I live south and west of Salt Lake City we are about an hour apart. If you need or want some help with your fj let me know just have cold beer. Do they drink beer warm, cold or both down under? Send me a PM. :drinks:
FJMONKEY did not mean to steal your thunder. My wife got that in an email a few weeks ago so I can not take credit for thinking it up. It so matches one of our friends who thinks everything is better with vodka. They just moved to Ely Nevada, she came back to Salt Lake this weekend and spent $200 on alcohol. I guess if she is happy then he is happy? Not much to do in Ely. If we meet at a rally I will buy a drink how about that? :drinks:
There's 4 in Cedar city, 1 night only. Off towards Gunnison in the AM.
Sure go ahead rub it in. Don't let us forget we did not make it to the rally. Ok fine next year for sure and no more whining. Have a GREAT RIDE home. Please post PIX and let us know how things went? :good:

I have been reading some of the posts here and I think it shows the differences between FJ riders and those who ride other models. How many of us have more than one FJ or motorcycle and if you sell your FJ then you end up buying another one. Something special about the motorcycle and the riders! :good2:

Just picked up a Suzuki DRZ400S dual sport today. It runs and looks great. Bought it off my best friend he had to move and did not want to take it with them(new job). Planing on posting some pictures when I can. Needs a little maintenance and two new tires then good to go. With the new job and more money I think he will buy something bigger. This is good news for me. :yahoo:

Ordered a new set of Avon tyres today the azaro 16" rear and 110 front this will give me time to find new wheels the 17" rear and wider front. :i_am_so_happy:
Bought the tyres from motorcycle superstore who had them in stock they matched the price from rocky mountain atv witch was the lowest I could find including southwest moto tires who was the cheapest in the past. :good2:

So yesterday I posted can't spend any more money for a little bit need to recharge the funds. Well today stopped by cycle gear on bought street boots, pants and a jacket with other miscellaneous sat dealtuff. Need to quit doing this but got a great deal. All black and I do not look like a power ranger. With FJmonkey getting so close to a pink stripe He must have pink on the brain. He must be dreaming of it right now. Soon he be looking at the world through a pink power ranger helmet shield (far better than roes colored power ranger shield I am told). :good2: :rofl2: :rofl2:

IMO good riding gear is not a luxury....... it's necessary insurance.
KOokaloo!
Yes I have always been a be-leaver in protective gear and sold a lot of it when I worked in motorcycle shops. People who think since "I have not had a problem so I don't need a helmet, gloves or a jacket" that is just stupid. Cant fix stupid. :good:
Kurt
So I was at the local Yamaha dealer today and stopped to look at a FJR1300. Here comes a sales man telling me what bike this was and how it was A GREAT DEAL. A new 2009 for only 13,000 dollars when I said that is not such great deal to me. He told me that I have no idea what I was talking about and knew nothing about motorcycles. Wished him a good day and left. I won't be buying any bikes there. Many times it"s not what you say but how you say it that matters. In just a few words he turned me from a customer in to a person who won't buy from them. Arrogance and stupidity not a good mix.
