i was thinking about changing the brake and headlights to l.e.d. lights, is it as simple as plugging them in or is there some wiring involved in the different type of light.
if its easy, do you have any brand recommendations?
you should read this thread http://www.fjowners.com/index.php?topic=3552.msg30474#msg30474 (http://www.fjowners.com/index.php?topic=3552.msg30474#msg30474)
and here is the video of it
Yamaha FJ1100/1200 LED taillight with intergrated turn signals (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yBrV23NlLmQ#)
Yes the rear light plugs into the existing wiring harness, if you go for the option of intergrated indicators then they will have to be attached separately. You will have to file away a small amount of the tail unit to get the new light to fit properly but rest assured it is a simple job, it shouldn't take more than an hour start to finnish. The link below should give you anidea how it is done.

Not any more. I am having the light made with intergrated turn signal function built into the light. It is a plug and play, no mods other than the grinding of the tail section to fit the light.
Unlike the modification link posted, there is no need for any type of resistor or modification to the wiring on the unit that I sell to make the turn signal work.
Chris,
Take a look at my website; www.RPMRacingCa.com (http://www.rpmracingca.com). It has the lights and a host of other products for the FJ.
As far as the headlight, an HID light is the way to go, and you can find those all over the internet, just need to shop for the best price.

dumb question, will these work for plug and play?

Ha! There is no such thing as an HID regular light bulb! Those are just regular bulbs with a lame-ass blue tint. Just type "HID" into the search field on this forum and you'll get lots of good info...I just did and came up with many threads, including this one (I give a small demo video of the best / least expensive HID kit I could find): http://www.fjowners.com/index.php?topic=2132.0 (http://www.fjowners.com/index.php?topic=2132.0)

I have more fun riding and working on my bikes, than chasing that little fucking white ball around the golf course. :dash2:

If you can ride and have fun, it gives you an excuse for having a score that looks like you went bowling rather than golfing.
I need a calculator to add up all the numbers for my handicap, so I understand.

Yea, I'm a Star Trek golfer...I go where no man's ever gone before.
To add insult to injury, the greens fees have doubled here in the desert during the tourist season. $150pp for a round of golf? FMD
I would rather have a LED tail light or a case of Amsoil or....

Yes again, we have a new indoor range just opened here in Palm Desert. Instead of blowing $150 for a round of golf, do you know how many rounds of hardball I can pump through my S&W 4506 for $150?? Sooo much more fun.
Besides I feel much better when leaving the gun range than when leaving the golf course. I love the smell of cleaning solvent. and Remmington oil.

I put Hoppe's no. 9 in my crankcase. Cheaper than Amsoil and smells awesome. Sometimes that surplus military gas is corrosive and you gotta keep the bores clean.
LOL we are so much alike....... i've got a range right down the street from me....
love the smell of black powder in the morning.... it smells like.... VICTORY! :good2:
