ghey

Garth, I can assure you it's not!  I have only put 150 miles on it so far - but I actually have to work to keep the front wheel down when powering out of stop lights.  It has some balls...

Hey Marsh, IIRC you had a Duck up in Flagstaff. If you would, please compare the two. I know the ergos are superior on the Tuono.
Back a couple of years ago at the WCR, Gazza let me ride his Falco/Tuono hybrid thru the redwoods on Hwy 1 coming back from Legget....and I can say it was a gas. Light and flickable with wide bars, upright seating. Plenty of torque to power out the corners and the compression to slow you down when you let off the throttle.

Also, can you take a seat to peg measurement on your '89 and a measurement on Klav's new Tuono.  Curious to see what the difference will be.  Prolly not a big deal if you are (again) going to trailer your bikes to the WCR.

The real proof will be....Can Klavdy ride that bike to Gunnison without needing knee surgery?

I rode a Duc 1100 Monster last year.  My first time on a big V-twin.  It was incredibly torquey and fun to ride around the block.  The vibrations, however, were 10 times worse than an FJ with a bad carb sync.  No way I could have ridden it for more than a few hours.

Maybe that's why the guy got slower as the day wore on.  I could see where the vibes and power delivery would just beat you to death.  The rest of us wanted to ride to dinner every night, he wanted to take the truck.  :-)

Always lusted after the Tuono, but I'm waiting for the V-4 model!

Pat, I will make measurements (between the FJ and the Tuono) and make a long post comparing the Ducati 1098 to the Tuono when I have more time.  But you are funny!  I know Klavdy and I rode about 2500 miles to-from-and including the WCR last year.  We only trailered once to it in the past if you remember! (that was the year we brought the Yamaha Rhino to Willits...which promptly got banned...)

y'all ever see this?
http://cycle-ergo.com/ (http://cycle-ergo.com/)

pick bike make/model and it shows a graphic of the kneebend and forward lean.  pretty cool if you ever wonder how your bike compare to others..  The Tuono and FJ are very close.  FJ v\slight more forward lean, Tuono slight more knee bend.

My thoughts as well.  Wider bars on the Tuono too - I think it will be just as comfy to me - maybe slightly more comfy than the FJ on long travels.  Then again - I won't be doing long travels on it...Klavdy will!  The Sargent seat is VERY comfy on it...better than my FJ...for my ass at least...

Nah.. I'll just wait until you go to bed and continue my tradition of tea-bagging the seats on all your bikes.  :)

Don't think I'll go the saddlebags route mate, I can't find a pair of matching assless chaps I like.

Nah, a Givi maxia e52 or E55 will get bolted onto the rear seat, it's got a good sized tankbag and I'll probably buy a couple of those Drift HD170 cameras,  (http://driftinnovation.com/blog/drift-innovation-home-hd170-x170/)they're an all in one unit, takes up hardly any room.

I've slowly worked out that I only need enough clothes for four days max, and that's enough for a month long trip so between the Givi and the tank bag there will be plenty of room.

what year is that two oh no ?  Like the color  :good:

no Ohlins ?

i have ridden a factory edition up on Tuggles gap/parkway and it was a hoot... the wide bars and upright riding position make flicking the bike around super easy... front wheel up in the air on every corner exit (not even trying)
I found legroom adequate but someone taller (Klavdy) might find it a little hard on the knees after a few hours.

heck anything can be gotten used to and or modified to fit!

keep her in the twisty bits and KOokaloo!... :good2:

It's the same as this one that Tim from Pashnit  (http://www.pashnit.com/bikes/Tuono.htm)found so enjoyable.
No, Ohlins yet, maybe a Penske/Ohlins down the track but by all accounts they go great as they are.
I'm planning on a big ride in May/June, Nor Cal, probably across to Colorado, wherever the road takes me.
