The Tachometer and fuel/volt gauges were delivered today. Spent the evening doing the actual install and wiring. Tomorrow I will program the Tachometer and set the fuel and volt gauges to the proper readings.
Fred
Looking good, Fred. :good2:
Hey Fred,
Nice gauges, do like the blue, kind of reminds me of mine lol
Speed hut has so many choices its hard to make up your mine.
I was thinking when I saw you did the speedo what about the rest ?
Nice job!!!
Nice job Fred!
I like Bob's gauges, except in mph, not kph......I think the oil temp gauge is bitchen.
I haven't checked lately, can Speed Hut do red lighting on the numbers, like oem?
These are very, very cool.

I have done 4 complete, 3 gauge sets. I have found that some color choices work better than others.
Colors that I have done.
1. Cream face w/black numbers, orange needle. Night view, face glows cream w/black numbers, orange needle. Very easy to read day or night.
2. Standard Speed Hut default. Black face w/white numbers, orange needle. Night view is the same as day view. Very easy to read.
3. Silver face w/black numbers, orange needle. Night view, face glows blue w/black numbers, orange needle. Very easy to read in daylight, not as good at night, but not terrible.
4. Blue face w/white numbers, white needle. Night view, face glows blue w/black numbers, Orange needle. Very easy to read in daylight, very difficult to read during sunset. Nigh view is ok, but not great.
I think Mark Lowe in Australia did the black face w/red numbers and has mentioned they are difficult to read at night.
Fred
I think this would look awesome on the 1100 and '86/'87 1200's. Night view is Black face w/white numbers and orange needle.

Thanks Fred, yes I did get your PM but unable to call....house full of grandkids (girls) and I'm losing my mind.
Damn Barbies everywhere....now they want ice cream....
Just what they need, now they will be up until midnight.
What's a Papa to do? Strap a helmet on them, take them on a tuning run on my FJ.
Make them pee their pants....yea.....
Programming and install are complete. I am very pleased with the results. The black numbers are a bit difficult to read at night. Will take some getting used too.
Fred
Just when I thought I was all set with my gauges... :dash2:
These are absolutely gorgeous. Fred, do you know if Speedhut can integrate a gear indicator in there somewhere?
Also, check your battery:
Fred
What is the depth of the gauges?
I can get GPS gauges here in RSA that is 85mm on the face and 70mm deep.
And it is completely waterproof.
Thanks
Hannes
Found this one just now.
Both my FJ's are restricted, those pink stripe FJ's,so the 200km/h will be fine.

Good find, the first set of gauges I tried were LCD crystal. After 3 years, the display began to degrade due to heat.
The Speed Hut gauges are 25mm deep

A 200kph speedo is definitely undergunned!

Just starting to get into the fun zone :yahoo:
Photos of the areas not seen once together.
1st photo shows how really shallow the gauges are.
2nd photo shows that you have to remove ALL of the internal gauge supports and for the 1200, the clock and clock reset button supports.
3rd photo shows that the wiring can be done as a 100% plug and play unit, needing no added wiring.
Fred
Thanks Fred, those ones here will not work then, casing are to shallow for it.
Emailed Speedhut for shipping to RSA,hope they do

I am not 100% positive yours are like this but we have had a few customers send carburetors across the pond to us that were "restricted" The Intake Manifold Boots (http://www.rpmracingca.com/proddetail.asp?prod=36Y-13586-00-00%2C36Y-13596-00-00) instead of being 32 mm on the cylinder head side are a much smaller diameter, I don't recall but something like 26 mm or 28 mm. They also use some really big Main Jet Needles (http://www.rpmracingca.com/proddetail.asp?prod=Carb%3AMainJetNeedleSet) that are hardly tapered to lean the bike way down. And the last thing they do, if my memory serves correct is the jetting is significantly more lean for the "restricted" models.
The handful of sets that we have built for those folks have been amazed at how well the bike runs. It is also simple enough to do yourself if you are competent with cleaning and rebuilding the carbs.
Here's a list of the items to "unrestrict" the bike.
Main Jet Needle (http://www.rpmracingca.com/proddetail.asp?prod=Carb%3AMainJetNeedleSet)
Screw and O Ring Kit (http://www.rpmracingca.com/proddetail.asp?prod=carbkit) Not required but you should replace all the o-rings if breaking down the carbs (cleaning also not required but can't hurt since you have them off and apart anyways)
Main Jet (http://www.rpmracingca.com/proddetail.asp?prod=Carbjets)
Pilot Jet (http://www.rpmracingca.com/proddetail.asp?prod=Carb%3APilotjet)
Air Bleed Jet (http://www.rpmracingca.com/proddetail.asp?prod=Carb%3A3G2-14132) These may not need to be changed, I can't recall if these were smaller than standard models or not
Intake Manifold Set (http://www.rpmracingca.com/proddetail.asp?prod=36Y-13586-00-00%2C36Y-13596-00-00)
Re: Restricted FJ's...I recall reading about some sort of ignition interrupt in the speedometer.
Here is a little something on it. No end result though.

Uh Oh...! a discussion about an "ignition interrupt..."...?!
Gently now, gently...!
There is no discussion....we know what happens when the fuel pump FJ's go on reserve.
It's the same thing that happens when the '86/87 FJ's go on reserve, and (hint) it ain't got nothin to do with no stinkin ignition interrupt.
You know, I just had this happen the other day... never mind.
