I have noted two recent posts that mention they are not able to upload .jpg files.

For the one or other reason I don't know why,I must convert photo's to pdf as it doesn't want to upload jpg files.

I can't get photos to upload anymore either. I can to all the other forum's I belong too. And anywhere else for that matter. Just can't here anymore.
I also recently heard from Monkey that he was having an upload issue of a very large pdf file.
If I am not aware of these types of issue, I cannot address them.
I need to be able to tell the software programmer specifics about these issues. I just was able to load .jpg files into this topic just a few minutes ago:
Re: New York to Cali...or bust (http://www.fjowners.com/index.php?topic=17424.msg177208#msg177208)
So, if you are having issues uploading, please be as descriptive as possible with your specific issue so I can get it figured out & resolved.

I tried to upload a change on profile pic that would not load up. Chose file, hit update, now no pic on profile.
Here's a big fat jpg...
Mine keeps telling me I can't upload pictures. Says May be too big for my server and I should contact my provider. But like I have no problems any where else. Thought maybe some restrictions. Because I haven't contributed in a while. (This house is consuming every penny I have) so I sent the minimum amount. To see... But still can't get it to work.
Thanks for looking into this.
Hi Randy
Mine also states that it can not save attachments when uploading, that I should contact my administrator.
If I convert to pdf,it loads the files
Hannes
If you guys would take a screen shot of the error message and send them to me, that would be very helpful.
Dan, it has nothing to do with the support of the forum. Any member, contributor or not can upload.
Tim, was your replacement photo a .jpg file?
Randy - RPM
Yes ... redid it to JPEG to ensure and got same results.

I just uploaded 2 photos directly from my phone and posted with no problem. If I get the message again I will screen shot it and post.

Thanks, I will pass it along. Weird it won't upload the jgp but it let you upload the png...
Monkey was having trouble with a PDF and getting the same error.
So, something is up and hopefully it can be resolved easily.

If I convert it to pdf,it also uploads.
4.2MB is pretty big. The size of that jpg is enormous. Typical forum size pics are around 640x480. For reference, the pic I posted above was 1/4 the size of yours.

I posted previously photo's from 3.2 and 3.6 without issues. Maybe you right,I actually clueless about this stuff, not in my line.

If you are using a digital camera, you may have settings to reduce the size of the photo for use online. If you use a computer to post them, try resizing them in MS Paint before uploading.
I am using my phone. Will check at the camera settings for that before taking photo's again
Thanks

Yes! That's the one I was trying to post last week. I would get a timed out error. I figured it was probably my internet connection in El Salvador and asked Pat to help — who passed to Monkey since he was out of town too.
I just tri d it again from home - it worked! I think my issue maybe was based on local internet capabilities vice a forum issue.
So, I have been advised at this point it appears the issues for not uploading are due to file size.
He is still working on the issues. I believe he will post up his findings and how to resolve the issue so people do not have these problem. There is a way for myself and the moderators to upload larger files when needed, but just having the ability to load oversize photos is wasting data usage.
Dan, some of your photos are 2megs will others are between 300-400K. So, that is the reason some load and other don't.
Stay tuned for more in the near future.

Thanks Randy. It started working right after. So thought it was fixed. Same photos. Wondering why some are so big and some small. All taken with my phone. Auto settings :pardon:

He was playing with different upload sizes and that is how he noted you large photo file sizes. Unfortunately, the large files take up a lot of data, so I want to try and limit those whenever possible.
More to come later.

Giantkiller,
www.gimp.org (http://www.gimp.org) can give you a free-forever download of an excellent graphics program. The GIMP program can change the physical size and resolution of any image, along with many other features. Put an image into the program, and from the toolbar, IMAGE/SCALE IMAGE will let you set the "new" image size in inches, pixels, et c. 72 pixels per inch is fine enough for the Internet, and six inches of width will fill the viewer's screen nicely. Click the vertical size, and the program will compute the vertical size needed for the reduced image. Many large (in file size) images turn out to be a needless 30 inches in size. Changing the SCALE of an image usually makes little or no difference to the on-screen appearance of an image. EXPORT the changed image as a .JPG file, which uses image compression anyway, to save file space. Typically a 2Meg 30 inch image can be changed to a six inch 70~200k image, with little loss of viewing quality.
