4.2MB is pretty big. The size of that jpg is enormous. Typical forum size pics are around 640x480. For reference, the pic I posted above was 1/4 the size of yours.

I posted previously photo's from 3.2 and 3.6 without issues. Maybe you right,I actually clueless about this stuff, not in my line.

Hannes

If you are using a digital camera, you may have settings to reduce the size of the photo for use online. If you use a computer to post them, try resizing them in MS Paint before uploading.

Quick test for large pdf

Yes!  That's the one I was trying to post last week.  I would get a timed out error.   I figured it was probably my internet connection in El Salvador and asked Pat to help — who passed to Monkey since he was out of town too.

I just tri d it again from home - it worked!  I think my issue maybe was based on local internet capabilities vice a forum issue.

So, I have been advised at this point it appears the issues for not uploading are due to file size.

He is still working on the issues. I believe he will post up his findings and how to resolve the issue so people do not have these problem. There is a way for myself and the moderators to upload larger files when needed, but just having the ability to load oversize photos is wasting data usage.

Dan, some of your photos are 2megs will others are between 300-400K. So, that is the reason some load and other don't.

Stay tuned for more in the near future.

He was playing with different upload sizes and that is how he noted you large photo file sizes. Unfortunately, the large files take up a lot of data, so I want to try and limit those whenever possible.

More to come later.

Giantkiller,

www.gimp.org can give you a free-forever download of an excellent graphics program.  The GIMP program can change the physical size and resolution of any image, along with many other features.  Put an image into the program, and from the toolbar, IMAGE/SCALE IMAGE will let you set the "new" image size in inches, pixels, et c.  72 pixels per inch is fine enough for the Internet, and six inches of width will fill the viewer's screen nicely.  Click the vertical size, and the program will compute the vertical size needed for the reduced image.  Many large (in file size) images turn out to be a needless 30 inches in size.  Changing the SCALE of an image usually makes little or no difference to the on-screen appearance of an image.  EXPORT the changed image as a .JPG file, which uses image compression anyway, to save file space.  Typically a 2Meg 30 inch image can be changed to a six inch 70~200k image, with little loss of viewing quality.
Cheers,
Red
