A few years ago I was involved with an Old Timer forum. We had a photo challenge thread that was very popular. The way it works is very simple. One of the admins issues the initial challenge such as a fire truck in front of a fire house. You then take a photo of it with your bike in front of it and post it. You then issue the next challenge. If after a period time (I think we used 2 weeks) the challenge is not met then the challenger issues a new one. We kept them simple so that almost anyone could find the object. It wouldn't be fair if I challenged you to find a castle but a historic building would be fine. Just a thought.

These types of rally's can be pretty fun - There's a group of riders near me who do a similar thing but it's contained within a couple hundred mile radius. With your example of the fire truck in front of a fire house, would the next individual take a photo of *any* fire truck in front of *any* fire house, or does it need to be that exact monument?
I say run with it, get some ideas and rules etc... and kick it off in the "Join Me For a Ride!" section - castle and all!
I see. The photo requirements are generic enough that you can find the subject locally, but your bike has to be in the picture to count. (NO PHOTOSHOPPING!)
So, where do I send the Polaroids?

We kept them simple like lighthouse, harbor, military installation, Etc. The idea was to see how quick you could get the photo and post it. It should also be something that a lot of people could find. The hardest one I remember was to find a second generation Corvette. Those things are hard to find and the challenge was won by a guy that owned one. He was almost disqualified for not having his car in the photo until he explained that he owned the Corvette.
Since it seems like nobody else is going to, I'll throw out the first challenge. Your FJ in front of a statue of a horse. :hi:
If you are the first to post the photo, you issue the next one.

The Man from Snowy River no less.
OK, my turn. A picture of your FJ in your garage with a scale Bugatti type 35 with an FJ 1200 motor sitting in it, flanked by a shop mannequin dressed in bike leathers and wearing a Pith helmet.

Heehehe! :drinks:
My turn...
Somethin old, something new, something borrowed and something blue (or Red)! :diablo:
oops1...forgot the dummy!

Well Doug, you've ruined my next post
and you did forget one other thing - the FJ!

...and the "Western" model I'm working on in the foreground.
Technically, you win and you don't, you posted the photos (where the hell do you guys find these things) but it wasn't your FJ so I'm claiming my right to post the next quest, but hey, you can never have too many FJ photos. I say the next guy needs to come up with both.
My suggestion for the next photo is a silhouette of your FJ against a beautiful sunset.

Ok, it's
ancient old, it's new to you, I borrowed it , and it's either blue or red, I'm leaning towards red.
Noel
This must have been when he fist got it ... Haven't seen it shine like that since :mocking:

A photo with a lighthouse....
Photo challenge of your FJ with an airplane
Here you go Fred....it doesn't fly anymore, just a cubby house for the kids in the backyard.

Next challenge, an FJ and a camel.
This photo posting thing is killing me. I rotate, etc, but it never seems to work. :dash2:
Does an American Buffalo come close enough to a Camel to count?
Fred
He he he, not even close. I'd consider a Llama or alpaca. I did consider roos, but thought that wouldn't be fair.

Only if it has two humps.

What's the next challenge? How about adding descriptions about the photos?
Your FJ with an Italian sports car the same color as your bike and a description. :morning2:
G'day Alt, when you say description, what are you suggesting? Is it a simple explanation of the situation of the photo, or how someone came to have the photo?
btw- still no camel and FJ, come one fellas, Llamas and Alpacas accepted..... (popcorn)

Over the years I've traveled a good bit of the world but I've never been down under. By a description I mean tell us what we're seeing. Take the first challenge, I'm sure you Aussies know what that statue is and what it means but most of don't have a clue.
BTW I have an Australian Sheppard dog (way too smart).
Noel got a shot of his FJ with Llamas.....
I actually was able to get a shot of mine with a Camel.
I say fair dues, the challenge did not state a live camel or image of a camel. Fred, IMHO you may post the next challenge...
I think an Italian Sports car should still be the next one.... I have been looking for a suitable subject to put Casper next too.

Baa humbug, a technical win not in the spirit of the competition.
If you were to show a group of people Fred's photo and ask them what they saw, they would all say a cigarette packet.
However, I am above such pettiness and will abide by the judges decision, as llamentable as it is. I think alpaca light lunch and go for a ride.

I don't think judges were selected for this competition. I saw Fred's entry as a creative way to get a camel in the picture and I offered my opinion. I think the spirit of this contest is fun and games.

Perhaps I missed your humor, if I did then I am sorry I missed it. But your first line clearly stated the camel/cigarette post was not in the spirit. I do not want to be critical on anyone, this should be a fun and entertaining thread. Feel free to continue in a PM if you like. Let the others search for the photo and continue the challenge. I did like the "alpaca light lunch and go for a ride"... All good mate. :good2:

I thought the "Humbug, Alpaca and Llama" references over just 3 lines would be enough to identify it as humour, let alone the fact that someone could possibly take it seriously!
Oh well, chalk up another one to "lost in translation"
Maybe I should try "pie in the face" humour - not often funny but safe.
All good Mark.
Noel
Since nobody else seems to want to take on this challenge, I will. Please take what your about to see with a grain of salt.
My 88 FJ1200 and Italian (Fiat) sports car, both in grey.
Before you complain, let me explain.
It was built in Italy.
Italians believe that all cars are sports cars and drive them like that was true.
It has a whopping 69ps(hp).
The gas mileage is outrageous.
Beside, who needs a sports car when you have a FJ?
Should this be deemed acceptable then the next is your FJ and a Joshua tree.
MWHAHHAHAHAH,
Sorry fellas, I didn't get a notification of an update to this & just stumbled across it after posting in the projects.
Fred, winner, I didn't state 'live', and yes Noel I did really mean a live one.
Now as to the Italian sports car, it should only count if you've removed the rear view mirror in a cavalier manner by throwing it in the back-seat! Yes all Italian cars are sports cars in Italy. :sarcastic:
Sorry Alt, lost the thread totally there for a while.
Ok Alt, you've won this, what's next?
I think we should add stupider the better, or most tenuous but factual link. Super kudos to the dickhead that does a selfie on a moving bike!
Noel, BAH HUMBUG should be a new FJowners saying, I'm going to use it!
Troy

Next challenge, near and dear to my heart, your FJ with a wheelchair lift, vehicle or building mount....
Not my bike, not my photo so I'm not claiming it, the challenge still stands. Mark, what did you mean about 'vehicle or building mount...'?
One of our other members posted this a little while ago, great story... here's the link

Wheelchair lifts are for vehicles or buildings, so I kept the challenge open. Feel free to post the next challenge. I thought it was a great sight when I stopped at Newcomb's Ranch (a popular MC stop) and saw a guy pull up in in a CanAm Spyder. He pulled his folding chair out and transferred over. Legs don't work, no problem, he can still ride the roads and enjoy.
I think we keep the challenge as you left it mate.

I'm out of this one. Just can't find a lift. Lots of ramps everywhere. Even the buses use ramps here. :shok:
