Ok everyone, its on again. The date has been set, weekend of 31st October. What for? The Mapleton Muster of course! Time is running away so it has been decided in a roundabout way that this years event will follow the previous 2 years gatherings, as they were fun, and if you weren't there, you missed it.
Date, 30 Oct-1st Nov.
Where-- Mapleton and its surroundings.
Why --- Because we can.
The previous years accommodation has been at Lilyponds, Mapleton http://www.lilyponds.com.au/ (http://www.lilyponds.com.au/) which is just a short 10 min meandering walk from the famous Mapleton Tavern on the hill, http://www.mapletontavern.com.au/ (http://www.mapletontavern.com.au/) . The accommodation for those wishing to stay ranges from luxurious couples cabins which are very nice, to the basic Lodge, which I have been a guest at twice, ( I am cheap ). The Mapleton Tavern is a great place to relax after a days ride, great meals and they will stay open as long as you want, long after the regulars have gone home. Glenn and I were last to leave last year and somehow my forehead rammed into the half closed roller door on the way out, it was pretty hilarious even though it hurt like a bastard. The Lodge has rooms for approx $50.00, which if sharing the bunks works out to be $25.00 each for a nights stay, pretty good value. When I checked with Lilyponds last week they were pretty clear for bookings over the weekend of the 31st. Will check again tomorrow and update.
Richard and Harvy have previously plotted a nice run through the plateau at the back of the range, running through single lane roads past farms etc, very scenic and very easy to sit on silly speeds, where we ended up at Bellbirds Cafe at Kennilworth for a spot of lunch. A repeat could be in order, or a similar route would be great as well. http://www.bellbirdcreek.com/Bikes.html (http://www.bellbirdcreek.com/Bikes.html)
The View café opposite the Tavern was a great spot for brekky but is now an Indian restaurant that`s closed till lunch, so this year our meet point for 8am ish Saturday is The Mary Cairncrosss Café near Melaney. http://my247.com.au/sunshine-coast/Mary-Cairncross-Scenic-Reserve-Cafe.21613 (http://my247.com.au/sunshine-coast/Mary-Cairncross-Scenic-Reserve-Cafe.21613)"

Anyway, lets get this organised and lock it in, :good2:
Hoo Roo
X-Ray.
Checked with Lilyponds today and the Lodge is available on the 31st, (1 night stay) no problems. The "couples cabins" are also available but have a 2 night minimum stay, think that was the same last time as well.
If there is somewhere else that anyone else wants to suggest, please do, although this place is convenient, :drinks: Or even if this year its just a day ride, no probs either way.
Looking forward to it Ray, :good2: probably just do the day ride at this stage, have to wait and see.
Dam sure I'M in, :i_am_so_happy: I've just about finished the FJ ,as long as the carbs don't give me any more grief, think I'll pitch a tent over at Lillyponds for the night , I'm even cheeper ,got to do a road test for the Pillip Island run in October . Cheers. Horse. :bye2:
Hey excellent Mark! Will have to talk about your carbs as I've recently stripped and rebuilt a set for the Project bike, but I think I may still have a slight float height error :ireful:
Anyway, catch up soon, Hoo roo
Hey Xray, yeah it allways leaked a bit of fuel when it felt like it, that's why I ripped the buggers & shoved some of Randy's needles & seats in,(they were only sittin in the cupboard for nearly 2 years) :scratch_one-s_head: I can take it round the block, no worries, then next day when I warm it up it pisses all over the hot crossover on the zorst :dash2: :dash1: I think this little guy might be behind it all :diablo: Had em off twice now & am getting the fair shits with it. I'm gonna break the carb to air box rubbers soon & I know they are going to be xpensive :shout:    But I still love polishin it :good2: May have to talk to you or come over when I get her Regoed. markhorsey200@gmail.com :drinks: :drinks: I guess yoose have all seen this jigger, I love it
Wha?? I've never seen that bike before, holy heck, let me know when you get it regoed.
Mate, really ???? That's not mine, I wish. If I had the money I'd order a frame kit 2nite. :good2: No it's the brainchild of Raider motorsport, they call it an RY 1.1 value, Glad you asked, try $27,500 :wacko3: It was featured in Just Bikes magazine back in 2012 or 2013, it's something to do with a 1970's German tuner/designer by the name of Manfred Rau. www. raidermotorsport.com spose we should talk about this stuff elsewhere hey.. (popcorn) :bye2: oh, this TRX850 is also interesting, seeing as you can buy an old one fairly cheep these days !!!
Heh Heh, think I had better lay off the wine before I read your posts, I get confooosed :wacko3:

Hi Ray, buy or make yourself one of these....

Set your carbs up on the bench real level and set to specs.
Worked a treat on the 36's I fitted to XS1100.. :good2:
See you at the Muster... :drinks:
Cheers Timbo...
Hey that's great Tim, haven't noticed that tool before. Going to make up one of those PVC carb stands I have seen on the web as well, makes it really easy to get the carbs stable and at the right angle.
See you at Mapleton.
Booked my favourite room at "The Lodge". Luxuriously appointed with twin bunks and small bedside table, aahhhhhhh. :good2: Rates for the lodge are $50.00 a night if one staying, $60.00 if doing a twin share deal. http://www.lilyponds.com.au/accommodation.html (http://www.lilyponds.com.au/accommodation.html)

The unflappable & infamous barefoot mechanic, https://www.youtube.com/user/Steptoexs11 (https://www.youtube.com/user/Steptoexs11) (otherwise known as Steptoe of XS1100 fame) has also booked into the Lilly ponds Chateau, with his lovely wifey Michelle. :drinks:
Hi all, Fay and I are booked in and will be joining Steptoe at Childers for the ride down on Friday.. :good2:
Have posted an invitation on the XS11 and FJR13 forums so may have some interest from them..
May have another interested rider on a FJR that may be joining us as well.. :good:
See you all there... :drinks:..for a great weekend...
Look forward to catching up Tim as always. :good2:
:yahoo: I'll be there if I can ... :good:
Yes I will be there with only the question of sleeping arrangements, see if I can get a room this time to share ... :drinks:
Hello all, is anyone going to swag it? Not sure what I am doing as I have a swag on the way that I have ordered but not sure of a sleeping bag yet ... :drinks:

Even his camera man (Errol...XS1100), is now attending! (That`s a total of nine that I know of, coming just from the Northside of the venue plateau!) :drinks:
I am all ready to go ... :yahoo: Now I will have to suck it and see if this old body of mine can handle it. :good2:
Your old body should handle the ride ok Shane, sleeping on the hard ground overnight might be a different matter though. When your young and full of fluid you can sleep anywhere, but when you get older things just aren't the same.
Still not sure what I'm doing yet, stay overnight, or ride home after the ride, either way it's a great day out with fantastic scenery, great roads, and great people. Looking forward to it. :good2:
Yeah Bones, tell me about the old body  and from what I have seen from the members that I have met it will be a ball. Should be a great ride and a good night as well. Yes I am so looking forward to it, it has been tooooo long. :yahoo:
You really should stay Tony, it's fantastic at the tavern at night discussing the days ride.
I see my big 'bro is packed and ready to go, few weeks early but at least he is keen :good2: So at this stage it will be a meet up for brekky/coffee at the cafe opposite the Tav at 8.30am or thereabouts?
Only 6 or seven sleeps ta go!
A bit of housekeeping.....re Saturday 31st October 8am. START VENUE CHANGE. ..
The usual brekky start venue with the View from Mapleton is now an Indian restaurant that doesn`t open for Brekky, so the meeting point is now the fantastic Mary Cairncross Park restaurant Near Melaney, with views over the Glasshouse Mountains at 8am ish. (Fueled up please.)
Here`s tha brekky revue, map & pics http://www.tripadvisor.com.au/Restaurant_Review-g499670-d3382099-Reviews-Mary_Cairncross_Cafe-Maleny_Sunshine_Coast_Queensland.html (http://www.tripadvisor.com.au/Restaurant_Review-g499670-d3382099-Reviews-Mary_Cairncross_Cafe-Maleny_Sunshine_Coast_Queensland.html)

Maybe some pics and chatter then around 9am, off to Pete`s Bellbird Café at Kenilworth for refreshments, via some of the best scenic roads in Australia. (Bald Knob rd and Bellthorpe) http://www.bellbirdcreek.com/ (http://www.bellbirdcreek.com/)
Then back up the Obi Obi, one way hill climb and over the top to eventually experience time travel and the period of the Birth of our FJ`s at the Iconic Rick`s Garage Cafe for lunch.

Then it`s the leisurely road back up the plateau (The long way?) to the Mapleton Tavern, for some Muster Mania, bed check and a large table booked on the Verandah! http://www.mapletontavern.com.au/ (http://www.mapletontavern.com.au/) :drinks:
By good fortune I'll be in town not far from this for a work thingy. I've done my best to make arrangements & will try to be there, but just just for the brekky meet-up, then off to work again.
Troyskie.

Doesn't it shit ya when new owners take over and change things, :ireful: Anyway, looking forward to the day and was wondering if anyone wants to meet up at the BP servo Burpengary for the ride up.
Hi Tony - I will be meeting a mate of mine at the BP. for the ride up..your welcome to join us. He's riding a Harley - but we wont hold that against him, Im sure he will be an FJ convert following the weekend.
We haven't agreed a time yet to meet so what ever time suits. I was provisionally thinking some time around 6.30 - 7am to give us enough time to get there by 8am.
Rob
No worries Rob, I can be there between 6.30 - 7.00. I'll probably pull up again at Lansborough to top up on fuel though, save going into Maleny then backtracking to the cafe.
Yes another couple of riders here too. I am not sure what time Xray will get going but I will be there too. I am surprised actually that he didn't respond last night, he's usually up, but maybe he was out ... :good2:
I am so looking forward to it. :yahoo:
Thats great news Tony + others... 6.30 - 7.00am leaving the BP for anyone wanting to join a pack attack to the trip up for breakfast
look forward to it
Rob
Yep, we were out, but BP Burp sounds good. Shame about the cafe, but the other place is very nice as well. I'm away in Rocky all next week, get back Friday arvo so will be a wash/service/pack session then to be ready for Saturday am.
Doug said that Tim can't make it now? :(
Thanks for the follow up and schedule re-bookings General
Hmmm, I'm off on a surfing trip to Indonesia on Monday 1st, may be a starter on the Sunday though,,,

Sounds great ill be there :i_am_so_happy: :drinks: :good:
Will meet at the BP. At this stage will just do the day ride. Looking forward to it
Ooops,buggered the dates,
Sunday the 1st , not Monday.
I know I left it a bit late, but tried to book at Lilyponds today and was told that all the lodge accommodation has been booked out by a group of alcoholic degenerates. Just wondering if anyone has a spare bed available keeping in mind that I can be a heavy snorer . there are a couple of cabins still available but that becomes expensive unless I could share. Sue wont be coming as she has to work. Poor Sue
Looks like Andrew and I will be sharing an upmarket cabin away from the degenerates in the lodge. There should be 3 beds so let me know if anyone else wants to share (Bones? )
Yes, Bones should stay over, or my bro Shane (Notso) who is swagging it may take you up on the offer if Bones does not stay.
I'm tempted, but can snore ( so I'm told) like a beauty when lubricated. Stu pm sent.
Yes I think it might be better to try and keep my snoring contained in my swag ... ... Especially after a few :drinks:
Thank you for the offer anyway.
Perfect weather arranged via local call as usual. http://www.bom.gov.au/jsp/watl/rainfall/pme.jsp?ref=ftr (http://www.bom.gov.au/jsp/watl/rainfall/pme.jsp?ref=ftr)

Awesome Saturday Brekky table count, I have at 18 presently. (plus two maybe`s to be confirmed by Friday)
Post or contact me if there are any extras or apologies please. :drinks:
Can't make it this year - up in Nth Qld working.
Have a good weekend guys.
Cheers
Harvy
Well, I've decided to stay overnight and will be sharing a cabin with Stu and Andrew. Not sure if Andrew snores or not, but between me and Stu i reckon it'll sound like a chainsaw convention inside that cabin later that night
I'll bring some earplugs for Andrew just in case.

You won`t hear any snoring and it will be a peaceful sleep, cause we are isolating the 2am World Cup Rugby fans to the screen in the soundproof kitchen. :good2:
Playing our lovely mates from across the ditch in the World grand final at Tickenham (London), will be nice.

Woohoo... 1 more sleep :yahoo: and the weather is clearing for a great day of riding
See yawl at breakfast.
Darran
It's dark , rainy and windy here in Rocky at the moment, flying back home later to nice clear weather it looks like woo hoo. This week in Rocky has been very hot, dry, the rain today is welcome
Beauuutiful clear weather.
All converging on Mary Cairncross Park near Melany, tomorrow at 8am with a confirmed 20 persons all fuelled up.
FJ believers from Bundaberg to Nowra and one originally from Melbourne (fb747), that hasn`t posted since 2011!

Well, another Muster done and dusted, and I gotta say the popularity of this event is growing every year with more FJ's than you'd probably see at some rally's. The meeting place for brekky had fantastic views and great food as well. Troyski and a mate turned up and I think he was surprised at the number of FJ's in one spot, nice guy by the way.
Great to meet the famous Steptoe, his wife, and his sidekick Errol from XS1100 fame, Heckel and his Frankenstein FJ and also fb747 Ben.
The ride was absolutely fantastic, great views and curves galore that never fail to please, especially going up the obi obi range that's one way only so there's no fear of something coming the other way. Ricks garage is a great place for lunch with good food and plenty of it, but the best bit is at the end of the day when you can sit back on the veranda of the pub and have a "few" drinks and talk about the day.
Not sure if there'll be a video this year, as stupid me deleted the footage from the front cameras card before saving it to the computer :dash2:. Saved the footage from the back camera and hand held so have to wait and see what it looks like. Didn't get many pics but here they are.

Thanks Bones, The General, Stu and ALL involved in a truly great weekend -I had a blast. Hope all have made it home safe and well!
Have cleaned the bike & removed rear Spring, hoping for some advise on the best course of action - me and mechanical thing don't gel.... I can pull things apart & sometimes put them back together, but that's about the extent of it. :dash2:
Sitting back enjoying a beer, reviewing the posts, photos and pondering the mods to come...
I feel privileged to be part of an absolute fantastic mix of people.
OH, forgot - the chainsaws were only in Idle mode last night - despite the earl plugs... :yahoo:
Cheers til next time
Andrew
Great day, Wish I had of spent the night.
Dougy (my general my general) mentioned to me and its a valid point.. "why don't we do this every weekend" that's how good it is.......
Once a month would be perfect I reckon. No need for a sleep over but its only a 350 to 500 k ride all up for the bulk of us and don't forget our xs1100 mates.
They're our fj's grand fathers after all. Got to admit though they sure get up and march along for big old fellas. . Cant wait till the next one...

So glad you made it Ken. Those XS1100 models are surprising indeed. Trailers, Pillions nor sidecars seem ta slow them down much!....in fact the rider towing the "Keg" has personally completed 336000klms worry free without even unbolting the head for a check. (Wish I`d taken a pic of his Stainless Steel wing on the back for high speed towing.) :drinks:
Just want to give a big "thank you" to all that went on the Mapleton ride, and to all the help and hints that was given to me by everyone. I was welcomed into the group with no "if's or buts".
I totally enjoyed the weekend and will be looking forward to the next ride (when I am not travelling in the caravan) with all of you. :good2:
Well, I only made it for the brekky (well coffee), and didn't even get to bring my Effie (but is was fun on the side of the URAL). BUT I did get to meet everyone. Brilliant bunch.
I was slack with photos, but here's what I managed...
I saw that old chariot doing a youey on the road thinking it was some lost tourists, didn't know it was you and your mate. At least you got to sample a little bit of the route Troy.
Should've got your mate to meet you somewhere along the route and jumped in the Generals sidecar, that would've been an eye opener because he can hustle that thing along like you wouldn't believe.
Well mate, you were right about the tourist bit, I definitely was a tourist. My mate lives in Morina, so we were heading to his place via the back roads.
You guys have a beautiful bit of country and the roads were brilliant. I am very jealous.
It would have been very interesting to swap into Generals sidecar. The Ural gave me a couple of 'interesting' moments, particularly when the 'brakes' decided they'd had enough :wacko1:. I've not been in a sidecar before, much fun.
My mate did mention the difference between his kit and the Generals was chalk & cheese.
Another fantastic Mapleton Muster :good2:
As always it was great to catch up and good to meet so many new faces.
See you all next year :hi:
I've thrown a video of the day together, and although there's no footage from the front camera because of being deleted from the card before saving to the computer, it still shows some of the great roads and ever changing scenery along the route. Part 1 and Part 2.

Good one bones, I enjoyed that but thanks for some how make me look like a fat f@cker.
I think I will come out your way and tell chris that you were speeding like a mad man. lol
Yeah, I've heard cameras will do that to you Ken. As for speeding?? didnt get over 100 all day
Really enjoyed watch`n. Thanks Tony. I overheard Darran talk`n to his apprentice about it today. (They`re working below my office as I type). You`re putting together quite a fun library. I think your presence is compulsory for all our rides, esp if we have a Christmas Party! :drinks:
Thanks for putting up the video of the ride, Bones. I was gutted when I read that you'd lost the front camera's footage. I actually had a cam with me on the day, but didn't bother with it after seeing your excellent movies from prior events.
Thanks heaps for the invite to your weekend. I had a brilliant time riding on roads I'd largely forgotten about in great riding company. It was nice to see my XS's grandkids out having fun in the fresh air and sunshine keeping the cobwebs at bay.
It was nice meeting you all and hope to see you all again sometime down the road
Play safe
Errol
What great videos you have Bones, thank you for posting them. :good2: Sorry it took me so long to watch them, but I had to wait for my data to renew for the month. :dash1:
Yes it was a great weekend with good rides and good people to enjoy it with, I wait for the next ride (if I am not away travelling) with everyone again.
Thank you all ... Shane :drinks:
