A better picture would help but I think it's off of a YZF1000 Thunderace. Color of what?

Looks like a metallic gray color scheme. What are you guys smoking? It must be some good shit to alter your color perception.

First gen FZ1 swingarm has a similar look and may be easier to find.

Derek
Ps: that bike lacks two things
1) RED
2) WHITE

If I remember right. The FZ1 swinger is longer than the fj swingarm. And the thunderace is shorter than the fj. So if you want to do wheelies get the thunderace. If you want to do burn outs/ drag race get the FZ1.

"The FZ1 swinger is longer than the fj swingarm."

Yes it is, one inch longer then the stock swing arm.

That's why I'm going with the 92 r1 swingarm. It's 2" longer and braced. Longer and stiffer.

Over compensating a bit eh? I guess I need to get used to that being an 86/87 owner. No need to fix perfection...

The FZ1 or R1 swingarm swaps are great mods but the wheels don't match the front. If you change the front wheel to match the rear, you lose the speedometer drive. A lot of things to consider. Has anyone tried to machine the front wheel from FZ1 or R1 to take FJ speedometer drive? What is the width of a FZ1 or R1 swingarm where the wheel goes. Maybe you could use the Thunderace wheel with the FZ1 or R1 swingarm. I have a Thunderace swingarm and will measure it later to post the wheel width. Hope this helps.

Hey Kurt,

I looked hard at trimming the mechanical drive to adapt to an R1 fork and wheel and we concluded it was going to be difficult on both sides of the drive.  It could be done but what a hassle.

Looks like Thunderace or 1st gen FZ1. I compared it to my FZ1 and appears you do have the thunder ace. My FZ1 brake rotor is much smaller in diameter

ThunderAce front rim -- only rim that matches the first gen R1 axle and brake rotors and still machined for a speedo drive.  You do have to machine quite a bit (8mm? 12mm?) from the inside of the left fork tube.  It's no issue for strength since it is basically a wheel spacer cast in as part of the fork lower.

Forgot to add -- the FZ1 swingarm mounts the same as the ThunderAce swingarm (4mm off each side)

Chris, from memory mine was 2mm off either side (4mm total).

Harvy, I'll defer to you on that -- been long enough now I don't remember for sure!

2 mm per side. 4 mill total for mine. FZ 1 . Harvy is correct.
