I am thinking of shaping this windscreen to fit my 89'. Darran (oz.fj) has one fitted on his Blue and Gold 89' and IMO it looks pretty good.

Fred
A little early for April fools?
Seriously, is there a picture you can find, of this windscreen on a FJ?
Here is a photo of the CBR1100XX double bubble screen on Darran's (oz.fj) FJ.

Fred
^^ that's cool.... I've never seen one adapted to the FJ. I like the double bubble version.
I wasn't aware of this mod...Thanks Fred!
I have ordered the CBR1100XX Double Bubble windscreen. It will be coming from China, so it will be 2-3 weeks before I receive it.

Document the whole process for us Fred...looks good!
I received the CBR1100XX windscreen today. Fairly easy modification. I will verify this mod for the 88'-90' 3CV only.
I used my Zero Gravity windscreen as a template.
I placed double sided tape on the outer side of the Zero Gravity windscreen and laid it on the inside of the CBR windscreen. Using a paint pen, I drew the outline of the Zero Gravity windscreen and marked the mounting holes.
I used a Dremel with a heavy duty cutting wheel to cut away the excess material and a regular cordless drill to drill the mount holes. I purposely cut the shape a bit oversized for later fine fitment. Once the holes were drilled, I used all 8 of the mount screws with nuts and attached the Zero Gravity windscreen to the inside of the CBR windscreen. Very carefully, I used the Dremel to trim the CBR windscreen to the Zero Gravity windscreen.
Finished results are very satisfactory. I ordered Silver Mirror finish, because I really like how the Powerbronze Silver Iridium Flip screen looks.
The CBR windscreen as it looks delivered.

Fred, I'm not normally a cheer squad, but that looks great.
Good job on the fitting.
Noel
That's absolutely brilliant, :hi: now, can it be done for a 3XW?
Looks good fred...what year Honda?

The windscreen that I used fits 1996-1999 Honda CBR1100XX Superbird.
Fred
Fred, sorry for the late reply...that is a very cool mod. A very nice job. I love it...
I'd love to see if this mod can be done on a 86...that price is awesome
Nicely Done! :good2:
Thanks Fred. I ordered the silver one yesterday for my 89. Then I found the blue iridium one. So I ordered that one. Now I'm going to have the silver one extra. :dash2:
Thanks for doing the leg work. This forum is great...to feed the sickness :wacko2:
I have ordered and received a new more pronounced double bubble windscreen.
Here is the comparison photos. The silver one has already been cut and fitted to the FJ. The smoked larger one has not been cut and fitted yet.

Finished photos will come in a few days
Fred
Fred - did you order it from the same ebay seller? Did it show up in 10 days like the mirror one? Is the bubble the same width? Just taller? Curious because I ordered a smoked one a few days ago...

I did not get the new windscreen from the same seller. The smoked windscreen was only $17.00, free shipping, and shipped from within the US and arrived in 6 days.

The bubble seems to be a hair wider and has a less pronounced edge where the radius changes.
I will post up photos once I have it installed.

I was going to order one to play with, but that seller is out-of-stock. :unknown:
You guys are awful. Now I am totally going to have to try it.
And the Moditus affliction goes on... :empathy3:

I have not ridden it yet to see what the wind characteristics are.
Fred
I want to do this does any body have a 86 and 87 windshield that they can line up to see how different they are...for what Fred paid to do this it's a good Mod!
It won't work for 86 87.too flat. I wonder what other one might fit the 86.
Once again, well done Fred. Looks good.
Kurt
I may buy another pair of these double bubble windscreens, trim them to fit and put them on eBay for sale. I wonder how well they would sell???
Fred
I wonder if it would work with the 84' 1100.... I wanna try it out once I find an upper faring.... When I got the bike the upper faring was trashed...
Cool mod, I like both screens. Has anyone done this on a 3XW? would love to see a picture if anyone has one
I know this thread is 7 years old. I recently was contacted about this mod. I still have the original Chrome version that was my first. I have made a few since. The first iridium version was sent to an owner in England and looks absolutely stunning on his FJ. I made one for personal use, although stunning, it doesn't work was well with the Red stripes on Casper. I did a clear version that actually is almost a perfect fit. I had to mask off the lower portion and spray it Black to cover the ugly parts of the main fairing.
Using an existing photo. There is a side-by-side comparison with Steve Beumann's 1989 and Casper.

Nice pics. I like the chrome and Iridium one the best !

Iridium looks good on the black and blue 89 too. Thanks to Fred. I did this back then.
Sorry Fred was typing fast on my break.
Thanks to Fred for this!

Fixed it.

I also can thank Fred for the idea.
I used a solid Black one, as I don't need to look through it anyway.
I know this is an old thread, nice mods! I've seen lots of posts on how good they look, how well do they work? Better wind buffeting protection or just a great looking mod?
I'm a 6'2" tall rider looking to get a better air bubble to keep from being blown off. :rofl2:

I am short at 5' 7". For me, the big difference was.... the OEM windscreens created alot of turbulence at my helmet. The CBR1100XX windscreen stopped the turbulence. Maybe Alan can chime in, he is closer to your height.
