I was car shopping today here in Hungary and stumbled across this:





You're probably thinking, "So what..." Well I believe this is the only one in the country. Literally. Not many U.S. imported cars here in Hungary because of the 27% VAT tax. I seriously wanted to buy it, but the wife said "No" firmly. I have not seen one of these here in the 4 years I've lived here.

Back to shopping for a BMW or Audi SUV... :nea:

Yea, with the VAT,  I also wonder what the drive off price is...

Also, Mark, think of the recurring costs...what's the cost for a gallon of gas over there? (I know they sell it by the liter) What does that bad boy get 15-18 mpg ?
Where do you take it for service work? How much would be your registration and insurance?

I suspect that your wife is a smart cookie...

About $35,000. Steep? Sure is, but there are other factors like my company giving me a monthly allowance to buy my own car. So basically they pay for it if I stay here long enough.

Insurance is cheap compared to the U.S.

Fuel costs $8.50 per gallon, last time I did the conversion.

I've got a 2012 Charger with the 3.6l 6-cylinder and 8-speed trans.  I love it!  Great engine, nice handling, incredible transmission (with paddle shifters) and gets over 30mpg on the highway.

Really works well as a ~family~ car.

Well, I traded our Audi TT plus some $$ for another Audi - a Q7. It's really nice and a 7-seater which is rare here in Hungary. In fact, I got into an argument with a salesman who said they never built a BMW X5 with 7 seats. I knew they did, but he refused to believe it. Just because there are none in our town (and about 7 in the whole country) doesn't mean they don't exist. I'm digressing. Sorry. That's just irritating to me.

Since we have a Hungarian Audi, we'll just call it our "Howdy." :biggrin:
