Sissy Bar

Has anyone tried to put a sissy bar on their FJ? My wife wants to get back into riding but due to back issues would need a sissy bar. I saw one incorporated into a Russel all day long seat. I would like to attach this to my grab bar on my 85 fj and use the existing mounting bolts to start, possibly attach a rack to it in a modular fashion......any thoughts or pics from someone that has done this before?? Thanks.

How about a Corbin Gunfighter & Lady seat???? She gets a back rest... Less sissy for the manly FJ...

Fred,

I have the same tail rack. curious on what brand saddlebags those are? did you relocate the turn signals or go with integrated tail/stop/turn signal? I have a pair of Givi soft bags I'm not happy with.

Here is a link to a supplier for the Hepco & Becker luggage rack specifically for the 84'/85' 1100's. The set-up is not cheap. The panniers are sold separate and there are a few different designs.

Here is the set of Panniers that I have. Again, they are very pricey.

To purchase everything that you need is near $1000.00. I picked my set up used from a fellow member. My suggestion is to have patience and monitor any luggage threads on this forum and to look on eBay, the panniers and racks do show up.

Here is a link for a complete Hepco & Becker rack for the 91'-93' 1200's.

Look at my previous post for the link to the panniers that I have. The model name of my panniers is 'Journey". I like the 'Journey Flash' models.

Also a note for the soft bags. If your dislike is that they sag. Contact a fellow member, FJmonkey, he makes a set of soft bag supports that have had great reviews.

Thanks for the link and info Fred.  my problem is I love my Renntec top rack and bag so I'm reluctant to discard it. i'm looking for a way to incorporate side bags rack into it. I like your set up, I also like the FJR
sidebags, just cant find an FJR that's being parted out. the hunt is half the fun tho.

I purchased a GIVI setup for a Kawi ZZR with plans of modifying it to fit the FJ.  It basically bolted on independent of my Rentec rack.  I use FZ1 turnsignals with shortened stocks.

Thanks, that's a very nice set up and the look I'm searching for as well.
Wow! Ive never seen those plastic panels before, very cool. What are they?

Dads_FJ

Are you referring to the belly pan?  If so it is an aftermarket one manufactured by Lockhart Phillips.  It came with the bike with no mounting hardware but I made do.  When I called LP to see if they had mounting hardware they laughed and said they hadn't made that for 40 years... or was it 30  :rofl2:
