Returned from the Colorado trip, Kurt (Yamaha fj rider) and I had a great time. Here are photos of the trip. 1938 miles for the total trip.

This one is for FJmonkey

Great time in Colorado. The FJ's ran well and no break downs. I got to wear off the chicken strips on the tires. The Conti-Motions worked wonderful, no slips, slides or wobbles. 4 close calls with the police but no tickets. One close call was quite comical on my part.

We met a fellow FJ rider named Dewey form Montrose. Riding from Gunnison and Montrose on our way to Telluride, we saw another FJ going the other way, a quick turnaround and caught up with him. We all pulled over and talked, he has a nice 89 with custom paint and other mods. He knew about the forum and we invited him to join. Wish more could have joined Kurt and I. Looking forward to the next rally and meeting more forum members.

Kurt is a great guy and I hope more members are like him.

I did the same yesterday in my car going through Brisbane traffic. Tagged and pulled up beside an `84 FJ. Simply pointed at what`s underneath him and gave him the OK hand signal. He lifted his visor and gave me a Nod. I told him `84 was a great year. We pulled over and had enjoyable chat. (He has to sell it-but no I wouldn`t recommend it on closer inspection-but got his phone number). This forum is a carrier for the disease "moditus" and a Rally is the medium for "Stalkeritus" me thinks.  :drinks:

A few of the locals that we met, remembered last years Colorado Rally. We were asked a few times if we were with the same group as last year. Thank you for all that attended last year and gave a great impression.  :hi: :drinks:

Here are some more photos

If any of you are wondering...'Why this photo'? Or what is it?

The green tube on the rail car is the fuselage of a Boeing 737-800. The company that I work for builds that for Boeing, and it is on the way to Seattle from Wichita for final assembly. I found it interesting that I saw them sitting in La Junta, Colorado.

Mike sent me a text and said he could not make it, something came up. This was too bad we wanted to meet him and shake his hand. Everything went well except for my front fender broke off. Riding back from dinner Saturday night almost to the cabin and the fender just fell off. All the mounts are broken. The good news is what is probably the last blue front fender for sale in the country is on the way right now. Almost can't believe this turned up.

Weather was hit and miss but the ridding was great. Some of those sweepers seemed to go on for ever. Then one turn after another. So many roads and so little time. Great fun, wished more FJer's could have joined us. Looking forward to the next rally.

You beat me to the front fender issue.. Blue and red ones are (supposedly) still available. Seen new ones from 62 to 130.00 bucks. I know about fenders falling off, I had a rear fender fall off on the garage floor sitting there over night doing nothing............. The funny thing is I patched it back together just days before the WCR. After my earning my "get off" merit badge, my front fender was broken off, fairing destroyed etc. but that darn temporary fixed rear fender was just fine...... Go figure.

I just put my front fender back together (had to completely fabricate one mount tab) and it looks pretty good. I think it will survive and when done will be stronger than stock. No matter what I have to repaint the front fender anyhow !

You got the Rally bug now... That with Moditus is extremely a fatal combo.... At least to the pocket book.  :rofl2: :rofl2: :rofl2:

Sorry Mike couldn't make it, I hope all is well. Last we heard he was headed for Nevada.

Riding the mountain roads was awesome. On the rides, Kurt took it easy on me and did most of the leading. I did get to wear off all but about a 1/4 inch of my chicken strips. Friday we did get some hit and miss showers. We rode for about 40 minutes in constant rain near Colorado Springs, and no rain, but wet mountain roads between Canon City and Salida. It was late in the evening with very little traffic. Had the roads been dry it would have been incredible.

Well, I can tell you there are only red and black fenders left from the Yamaha warehouse. The red (AJ) is for the 84-88 versions. The black is an undocumented color, it is definitely black and has a metal flake in it.

It is not the dark blue color like the black FJ's like Marsh has.

Those are the only two options remaining in the Yamaha warehouse. If you can buy any new fender for $60.00 you should snap them up because that is less than I pay for them from Yamaha now.

I found a P2 blue fender and it arrived just yesterday and I let Kurt know I had just received it, it will be headed his way today. All of the other color options are obsolete per Yamaha. I do check all of the options every time I order just in case some show up somehow.
