Don't forget to tell your bank or other financial institution that you will be travelling.
If you don't,you might find that your cards get blocked.
You can use the cash machines here to withdraw funds etc.

What are those funny looking green notes you have there Randy? Haven't seen that type for a long time,   :rofl2:

I'm not sure how many attendees are going to the rally Jeff, hopefully The General might have some numbers for us.

Those Green ones are International currencey, especially designed for Chook raffles! ...glad ta see our imports are being well prepared!

I`m working on some more exotic prizes for the ladies this time. My first experiment was unsuccessful!  (...tha mint & ginger mixed well with tha baby oil ...just a smidgeon too thick for perfume and unfortunateley the touch of ethanol blew off the coke lid overnight!)

..oh, the numbers was around 36 last time I counted,  but hard ta tell due to Forum names not always on the register. (also, room sharing etc)

Jeff, we have quite a few Queenslanders going, so using their direct contacts, we have secured perfect weather for our dinner get together.

The suggested ride routes that come in, will give you the opportunity to soak up tha serenity, in addition to a lot of good coffee afterwards. We do need some more representation from the slower Southern area for tha traditional State of Origin, carpark game on Saturday morn!....not sure if all the International players can kick balls, but from what I`ve read, they won`t be hard ta tackle! (Note: all standards are welcome!)   :drinks:

You may want to also include Fiji and New Zealand, just in case by some odd reason your long haul flight has issues and has to divert..

Arnie

For the short time you'd be staying with a "flight issue", and the minimal amount you'd need for a cool drink or a new magazine..... just change your US $ at the airport or use a VISA or MC credit card.

Its silly to carry 5 or 6 different currencies JIC.  The banks are already going to rip you off, why help them?

Bozo,

Sorry to burst that bubble you must live in, but the banks (especially in Oz) are protected from any real competition, and rapacious in their charging of fees.  They are even less community minded than the Yamaha dealers here. IMO (of course)

Long haul flight fun facts..

For those of us making the fight from North America to Australia, here are a few facts to wrap your head around..

The Boeing 777-300 has a wingspan of over 212 feet (65m) and is over 242 feet (74m) long.  The tail alone is over 60 feet (18.5m) tall.

The 777-300ER (Extended Reach) has a maximum range of 7,825 nautical miles (14,490km).  It must carry nearly 48,000 gallons (181,280 liters) of fuel to make the roughly 15 hour flight from Los Angeles to Sydney.  At roughly $4.00/gal it costs the airline $192,000 for fuel alone.  Most of the cost for your ticket is in fuel surcharges and taxes.

At 35,000 feet you'll be traveling at about 0.84 Mach (635mph).

Its maximum takeoff weight is 775,000 pounds (351,530 kg).  An empty NASA Space Shuttle with its empty external fuel tank and empty solid rocket boosters weighed only 613,000 pounds (278,052 kg).

Personally I have a hard time wrapping my head around 48,000 gallons of fuel...  That's a lot of Jet-A...

The 777-200LR (Long Reach) can fly almost 19 hours non-stop or 9,395 nautical miles (17,395km) and has the ability to carry up to 53,000+ gallons (200,626+ liters) of fuel.

If you look very carefully at the wings during take-off they actually "flap", as for the fairy dust the Easter bunny told me that was just a myth.

Hmm... if that's the case, I don't think we want to know what she does to de-ice a plane..  :wacko3:
