To sell or not to sell???

So I've had my 93 FJ1200 running for about a month now thanks to Randy. I really like it, the power, the style, and this forum.
But I think I'm  a little to old for the driving position. I'd like to sit up a little more upright.

Anyhow, in my neighborhood, an older guy has an 83 Kawasaki 1000 Police for sale in really clean and in nice shape, but he hasn't had it running in over 3 years, needs a new battery, carbs cleaned, etc.
He's owned it since 89, and put a lot of new parts in it over the years. The carbs were rebuilt in '06.

A friend wants to buy my FJ, then I could buy the Kawasaki. I can't afford both right now.
It would take a little tinkering to get it running, but it's unique.

So should I sell the FJ and get the Kawasaki or stay with the FJ?

We are all partial to the FJ. The obvious response is "keep the FJ"  :yahoo: :yahoo:

Reality is.... Do what makes you happy.

The Police KZ has a more upright seating position. The downside....You have a good running FJ and you would be trading off and going to a non running older KZ.

There are some options to make your FJ more comfortable.
I have these handle bar risers on mine.

Moving the footpegs lower and forward can be done. MFW directly for the peg attachment. Sorry, it is a german company and I use a translate app on my phone to read what I look at. You can add the peg and lowering bracket from Twisted Throttle.

Not the MFW brand, but this will give you an idea....

A little birdie tells me someone is going to have handlebars risers sometime next week.

The birdie also told me they are... cheaper, cheaper

Hmmm... that would influence my decision...

An upright seating position is the only thing you're going to gain IMHO.  I agree with Fred.  I haven't done the lower pegs yet but do have the bar risers and they helped me a lot.

I can't imagine that '83 vintage MC is going to give you any where near the ride that you are getting now in terms of suspension and handling.--Oh and unless you are a cop and do have the uniform, you can forget getting the chicks with the KZ Police.

I'd keep upgrading the FJ to your likings.  These guys will make you a custom seat similar to the style on the KZ.  http://www.day-long.com/

Good luck with your decision.

Yeah, I figured it wouldn't handle like the FJ.
But I was thinking of putting a horn on it that would play the CHiPS theme song as I drove around...
