GSXR Rear Wheel Conversion MAGIC MYSTERY BOLT

I know this conversion is covered in great depth and detail, but my problem is different and can not be solved in backlogs or archives. I have everything I need for this conversion except for the few little parts that are not from an FJ or GSXR. I need the brake stay bolt that goes through the lower foot peg. It's a 70mm long 8X1.25mm Grade 8 bolt. I also need the associated nuts and washers. I also need the 2 stainless steel 4mm thick washers for spacers.

Here's the EXCITING part. After 4 hours of searching (and years searching for similar things) I can not find these parts in Brooklyn, NY. Hardware stores don't have them, auto parts stores don't have them, motorcycle shops don't have them, auto shops don't have them, Indian Larry motorcycles doesn't have them.

Can anyone help me? Please think NYC, I DO NOT HAVE A CAR AND CAN NOT GET ACCESS TO ONE! That means I need a place that is less then an hour walk from the subway.

If you think you know a place stop and consider, do they sell to the public? Do they sell in small quantities? Do they have a minimum charge? Because to tell you the truth I did find a place here that has the bolt, but I have to buy a $50 box of 100. And Home Depot has a lot on their web page but doesn't stock jack here in NYC.

My GSXR wheel has a good tire, my FJ tire has a lag bolt in it. I have to do this conversion to ride my bike at all.

Thanks for any help.

Hi David,

Readily available at Ace hardware here is SoCal. Do they have Ace up in NYC?

If not, ping me back with what you need, I'll round the parts up for you and send them on.

Regards,

CraigO

PS: just did a search for Ace Hardware up your way and the place is filthy with them:

Oh, and David,

That bolt does not have to be grade 8, you can go to a higher number grade. I have a grade 10 in my bike.

You kinda got to remember it's New York City with mayor Bloomberg. That nut will keep you from buying things like a Slurpee, a 32oz soda or a fag for less than $8 US Dollars. It's crazy nuts up in that neck of the woods.... :diablo:

I was born there and, no, NYC is no place to raise a kid. Upstate, not so bad, but better in the New England states. Except Connecticut because they are just as crazy there.  :wacko2:

All is good  :flag_of_truce: But this guy lives in the land of George Castanza, Ralph Kramden, and Archie Bunker.  :wacko2:
As soon as he gets back to me, I'll more than happily help him out.  :good:
